The famous Russian hockey player Alexander Guskov was born on November 26, 1976 in the city of Gorky, which is now called Nizhny Novgorod. Hockey was carried away at the age of 6 years, in his hometown, the ice arena was located just a few steps from the house. And before that, for almost two years he was engaged in the gymnastics section.
First trainer
An athlete can say only the kindest words to his first coach and mentor. He was in the full sense of the word a master of his craft. Alexander is very proud that he trained with such a hockey master as Viktor Kovalenko. It was from the hands of a well-known professional that he was the first in the team to receive game ammunition. The excitement and joy of the little hockey player was so great that he was even ready to sleep in it. But seriously speaking, the future player could learn a lot from the teacher, both as an athlete and as a person. After a certain time, Sasha transferred from the nursery to the second team. Probably, none of the coaches believed in his strength in the club native to the young player Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo. They noted his skating that was not confident enough for his age and spoke about the lack of special gaming prospects.
Moving from Nizhny Novgorod
The time has come for military service. The leadership of the team had the opportunity to solve this issue, but for some reason delayed the decision. At this time, an opportunity appeared to continue his sports career in the newly created Motor team, which promised to solve the army problem. The novice athlete accepted this offer and left Nizhny Novgorod.
True, a small incident occurred. It’s not that Alexander Guskov, whose games didn’t attract much attention of the fans, was a very promising young player, but the leadership of the former team believed that since he was a pupil of Nizhny Novgorod hockey and invested a lot of effort and money, moving to another club it is a betrayal. In general, there was an insult.
Nizhnekamsk career period
After the “Motor” the player moved to the “Lada”. He played the full season in the Togliatti club, but six months later, Alexander Guskov, whose championship was not the best, was leased to Chelyabinsk Tractor. Having played several games for him, the athlete was again returned to the car factory, where he finished the season. After that, the transition to the Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik took place. For two seasons, Guskov defended the colors of this team. During this period of his career, he tried to prove to many, but first of all to himself, that he knows how to play hockey. Subsequently, having already become a mature master, Alexander always noted the fact that he absolutely did not regret moving to Nizhnekamsk. Probably, it was there that he first revealed his full potential, found himself as a player. It was in this club that he was first recognized as the best in terms of points among defense players. Before that, in previous teams, he did not feel the confidence of the coaching staff, so it was quite difficult for him to show himself. And in Nizhnekamsk, the hockey player was immediately given a serious credit of trust. Coach Soloviev, who headed the team then, provided the young player with a lot of freedom so that he could show everything he could on the ice. Maybe that's why this big positive leap has taken place.

Hockey career
Later, during the period of his playing career, Alexander Guskov defended the colors of the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv, went on the ice as part of the Ak Bars Kazan club and Omsk Avangard, was part of the army of Moscow and Severstal's Cherepovets.
Sports achivments
At the world championships in Sweden in the spring of 2002, Alexander Guskov (hockey) won silver medals in the Russian national team. In addition, he was directly involved in the games of the World Hockey Championships in 2003 and 2004. As part of the Avangard Omsk club in 2005, Alexander won the first European Champions Cup. The winner of the national championship of 2002, 2003 as part of Omsk and Yaroslavl, the silver medalist of 2006, 2008, 2009, won the bronze medals of the national hockey championship in 2011.
Alexander Guskov is a hockey player who, at the end of November 2009, scored his 100th goal in the Russian championships, becoming the sixth in the ranking of players in the defense plan for the entire long history of the country's championships. In 2011, he climbed this list three more positions up.
Guskov family
Acquaintance with the future wife Lily happened at a wedding with friends in their hometown, where the girl was a witness. Young people immediately liked each other. Before parting, they exchanged phone numbers. For some time they called up. Then Sasha sent the girl an invitation to her birthday. She flew in. After that, they no longer parted. After the birth of his son, Guskov, Alexander Alexandrovich, in front of the windows of the maternity hospital, posted on the snow an inscription of roses "I love you!" My wife looked out the window, was pleasantly surprised and deeply moved. And one day, on the birthday of his wife, he ordered a restaurant, calling there relatives and friends. The hall was decorated with the favorite flowers of the birthday girl. The girl did not know about this surprise. And all evening, Lily’s favorite music was played, which her husband specially selected. And at the end of the evening, he personally performed the hit "Thanks for the son, thanks for the daughter." Lily appreciated his efforts and said that she was extremely pleased.

A little about Alexander Guskov outside the hockey field
It’s worth mentioning right away that the athlete has almost no free time. When it does appear, the athlete tries to spend it with his family. Remembering his childhood, he emphasizes that he did not have idols. There was a dream, or you can even say - the goal. Being a native of Nizhny Novgorod, Alexander always wanted to play in the main squad of Torpedo. After the athlete played eight seasons, defending the colors of the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv, local fans recognized Guskov as theirs, although he is a pupil of the Nizhny Novgorod hockey school.
While studying in primary school, Sasha wrote an essay on the topic “I want to become a hockey player” and since then she has been saving this old notebook in her own personal archive among other objects dear to her heart. It is very small, a little less than ten sentences. He did not dream of dreams of playing overseas, did not dream of scoring dozens of goals into the gates of his rivals or be sure to win the world championship. He just wanted to become a hockey player. After the end of the playing period of his career, Guskov began working on television as a sports expert. He is confident that the gaming career has developed successfully. I am grateful to all the fans who supported him, the coaches and team leaders who believed in him.
