Today, torrent trackers, although they contain a lot of pirated information, are very popular among a huge number of Internet users due to the high speed of downloading content. To download content, special programs are used. Let's see why a very common error may occur with the message “The previous volume was not mounted.” What to do and what to do in this case? Everything, as it turns out, is corny simple.
What does the "Previous volume not mounted" error mean?
So, let's start with the programs themselves for downloading the contents of a torrent (a special file that is initially downloaded from the tracker). It doesn't matter which program is used to download. Its settings are important. By default, at first everything seems to work just fine. But then at some point when starting the torrent file with a double click, the program suddenly displays a message that the previous volume has not been mounted. What to do?
For starters, do not panic. The fact is that the interpretation of this message is very simple. Roughly speaking, the program settings, more precisely, the path to the final folder into which the downloaded information was saved, were changed.
What if Torrent writes: “The previous volume is not mounted”? Banal reason for the appearance
Most users, to start the download, usually use the usual double-click on the torrent file, and do not go in a roundabout way, first starting the program, and then opening the necessary files from it.
Consider a simple example. Suppose two users have access to one terminal (the owner of a computer or laptop and his friend). Suddenly, he came to you and asked you to download a couple of films from the tracker, but not to the hard drive, but immediately to a USB flash drive, so that you do not need to do unnecessary copying later, which with a large amount of information can take up a lot of space. You let him go for your terminal (he knows how to work with the program). What will he do first, so that the download is made directly to a removable USB-drive? Right! Changes the final download folder in the application settings.
At the end, he will turn everything off, pick up the USB flash drive and leave. But the owner himself does not bother to change the settings. So it turns out that when he, being sure that everything should work as expected, the next time he starts the torrent file for download, the program will start to “spit” about the fact that the previous volume is not mounted. What to do in such a situation, we will now see. Moreover, it is worth saying that there is nothing supernatural here. The explanation is the simplest: there is no device or folder that was downloaded last time.
What should I do if Torrent gives an error: "The previous volume is not mounted"?
What to do in this situation? Everything is simple. Even with the download started, there is a solution. It must be stopped completely, but not removed.
After that, go to the settings and just change the path to the folder that should be used on the hard drive. Needless to say, you can restore the default settings. Only in this case, the download will be made to another directory, if the user specified his own folder before. After that, you can resume the download. First, a check will pass, and then the download will be activated for the new parameters. Naturally, you can delete the download, and then run the torrent file again in the usual way.
The same applies not only to removable media cases. When you delete the previously specified folder, the program will also issue a warning, saying that the previous volume has not been mounted. What to do? Follow the instructions above and set a different directory (location) by selecting the path with the browse button.
To make the operation even faster, just click on the download and select "Download to ...". Further, everything will go like clockwork. But after completion, do not forget to change the download settings anyway, because the message may appear again.
Total
As can be seen from the foregoing, the problem, in fact, is not a catastrophe, and the whole method of error correction comes down to just choosing the place (directory) where the downloaded information will be saved. The only trouble is that when changing the settings, few people pay attention to this, or maybe just forgets that they have been changed. Do not want to delve into the settings? Just insert your USB flash drive into the USB port and resume downloading.
