There are many promotions that specialize in organizing fights according to the rules of mixed martial arts. In Russia, one of the largest is the M-1 Global. Under his auspices, Fedor Emelianenko, Andrei Arlovsky, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Alexander Shlemenko and many, many others battled at one time. In many ways, the glory of the company was provided by the M-1 Challenge tournament .
Tournament start
It all started in 2008, when representatives of the M-1 company came up with a scheme of competitions in MMA. Representatives of mixed martial arts from different countries were supposed to participate in them. Teams were divided into several groups, within which battles were organized.
The first M-1 Challenge tournament was held in 2008 in Amsterdam. It was attended by the French team and the Red Devil Fighting Team. The meeting ended in victory for the French, but then the Red Devils managed to achieve victory by entering the TOP 10 best teams.
Further development and famous battles of the M-1 Challenge
In 2009, the organizers decided to increase the number of participating teams. Now they are 16. This year, representatives of the Legion team won. In 2010, the process has changed even more. 5 weight categories were introduced in which champion belts were played.
Since then, the M-1 Challenge has been actively developed. Now the "events" of the company are not inferior in popularity to the battles that are held in Fight Nights. One of the organization’s brightest stars is Omsk fighter Alexander “Storm” Shlemenko, whose fights often end with spectacular knockouts. The audience was especially impressed by his dilogy with Vyacheslav Vasilevsky. The battles turned out to be incredibly vibrant and ended with the victories of the Storm.
The participants of the Rizin and Bellator tournaments, which have already gained popularity, made their debut here: Anatoly Tokov, Victor Nemkov and others. Then the current UFC member Geghard Musashi once fought.
Events once organized by the M-1 Challenge were known only to fans of mixed martial arts. Today it is a bright, famous tournament that is in no way inferior to the best "events" of foreign organizations.
