Origin history

Zavidovsky reserve began to form even before the 1917 revolution. At that time, his tenant was the Konstantinovsky hunting club. Then he was not far from the village of Kozlovo. These lands were very popular among Moscow hunters. One of the owners of the hunting dacha was the wealthy famous man Savva Morozov. At the beginning of the 20th century, Vladimir Lenin liked to hunt in this park. In the village called Shosha, the house where he stayed is still preserved. After the end of the civil war, hunting military societies appeared on Zavidovo land. They were organized by the commissars and commanders of the Red Army.

Land and farm conversion time

Two years later, namely, in 1931, the Zavidovsky Reserve received the status of a military hunting estate already officially. After another 10 years, in the winter of 1941, the front line passed through the borders of Zavidovo. Thus, the war caused great damage to our lands. The reserve was restored again. In August 1951, on the orders of Joseph Stalin, the economy had to be liquidated. Everything that belonged to the lands of Zavidovo was transferred to the ownership of the Kozlovskaya cloth factory. The territory and borders of the park for several years remained without close attention and control, so the poachers began to exterminate the game. After Stalin passed away in 1953, the leaders of our state began again to restore the Zavidovo scientific-experimental farm. Nikita Khrushchev decided to create several demonstration farms. So, in 1971, the national park receives the status of a state reserve of the USSR.
