Unfortunately, more and more often we hear about new disasters and accidents. The twenty-first century is a time of technology and development, we can safely call it also a century of disasters. Despite the fact that mankind has reached unprecedented heights in technology and industry, it seems that not all inventions have benefited people. Or maybe the reason is that they did not learn how to use these benefits properly?
The moment of collision of the ship and the barge on the Irtysh
On a hot summer day, August 17, 2013, many residents of Omsk decided to go on a rest on a sightseeing boat. At 13:00 he departed from the Omsk pier to carry out his next sightseeing flight. Moms with babies, elderly spouses celebrating their wedding anniversary, and many other passengers did not even imagine that a ship and a cargo ship would collide on the Irtysh River soon. The route of the craft ran from Omsk to Achair.
Having traveled most of the way, in the area of the village of Novaya stanitsa, the ship and the cargo ship collided on the Irtysh. At this moment, all passengers felt a tremendous push, as a result of which the Polesie-8 motor ship received a hole and partially began to go under water.
First Aid Rescue
To the horror of the fifty-six passengers aboard, there was no guide to rescue from the captain. As it turned out later, immediately at the time of the accident and after it, no one saw him at all. The help arrived in time from the workers of the cargo barge and from the people resting on the shore who, before the moment of the collision, without suspecting anything, fried kebabs. Seeing what happened, many took the boats and rushed to help, thus transporting some of the victims ashore before arriving at the ambulance.
Victims of the tragedy
Unfortunately, the collision of the ship and the cargo ship on the Irtysh led to the fact that eight people could not be saved, although, according to preliminary data, there were only four dead. At first, it was not possible to find six more people who were listed as missing. To date , the Ministry of Emergencies has denied this initial information, confidently stating that there are no missing persons. Passengers affected by the collision were immediately hospitalized at BSMP No. 1. That day, the hospital was just not crowding. Concerned doctors and relatives of the victims scurried around everywhere, now and then stretchers flickered in the corridor.
Horrible consequences
All surgeons were immediately called to work. Meanwhile, other doctors examined the patients. The collision of the ship and the cargo ship on the Irtysh ... Many will not forget this day for a very long time: everyone has wet clothes, and besides, they are all covered in blood. It is hard to imagine how much shock each passenger experienced. As you know, immediately after the collision, water surged into the ship with unprecedented power. It was extremely difficult to undertake any conscious rescue actions, because the catastrophe of the ship on the Irtysh River was a complete surprise.
The survey showed that many victims had fractures (limbs and ribs) of varying complexity, concussion and lacerations were found in almost every passenger who suffered from a crash. Not to mention the emotional trauma that will remain after this terrible event. Unfortunately, in a rather serious condition after the accident there were eleven more people. Some of them needed really serious operations, which could be qualitatively carried out only in Moscow.
For this purpose, two
EMERCOM helicopters were immediately sent to Omsk so that they could deliver the wounded to the capital in the near future. At the scene, a rescue operation was carried out, in which six vessels were involved, including even a
floating crane. The operational headquarters was trying to find out the possible reasons for the collision of the ship and the cargo ship on the Irtysh. Many argue that the sole responsibility lies with the helmsman of the pleasure craft, as it turned out that the disaster was due to a significant deviation from the previously planned course.
Intricate Investigation
The police said that the captain was intoxicated at the time of the collision, although this information was later denied. As already mentioned above, responsibility can lie on the helmsman, due to a significant deviation of the ship from the course. Be that as it may, the perpetrator of the tragedy faces imprisonment for up to seven years.
The meeting held on this subject at the City Hall brought some results. It was decided to fully pay for the funeral of the dead and to pay their families compensation in the amount of two hundred thousand rubles. The injured will receive only from fifty to one hundred thousand. Some of them are going to go to court to punish the company that owns the crashed ship.
As already known, two versions of the disaster are being considered today. The first is the incorrect and unqualified actions of the crew of the ship, the second is a failure or malfunction of the equipment. Be that as it may, the dead cannot be returned, but the perpetrators must be punished so that in the future such incidents happen as little as possible.
