The word "archetype" has Greek roots. Translated from this language, it means "prototype." The pupil of Z. Freud, Karl Gustav Jung, developed the theory of archetypes. This Swiss researcher reworked psychoanalysis. As a result, this direction was enriched by a whole complex of complex ideas saturated with mythology and philosophy, theology and archeology, as well as a number of other areas of knowledge.
The theory is based on the assumption of Carl Jung that the human soul includes three components in its structure. This is a personal, unconscious, as well as a collective unconscious. The first of these, or the ego, is consciousness. The unconscious contains memories. Among them there are those who were once suppressed. The most unique component is the collective unconscious. Carl Jung believed that this part of the soul is a form of psychological inheritance. It contains all the experience and knowledge inherent in man as a biological species.

The work of C. Jung and to this day remain for many mysterious and not fully understood. The reason for this is the unusual style of his psychological theory, which most perceive is not so unambiguous. Nevertheless, if we consider Jung's theory from the point of view of value, then it is priceless.
So what is an archetype? This term is quite common in mythology. In works with a theoretical analysis, Swiss psychiatrist C. Jung was the first to use it. However, he gave this term a different meaning from its specific translation. The archetypes in Jung's interpretation are nothing more than the initial schemes of various images that reproduce on an unconscious level and activate our imagination. And only subsequently all this is reflected in dreams and myths, in fantasies and beliefs of man, in art.
It is important to understand that archetypes are not images at all, but merely schemes. They are also called opportunity and psychological premise.
In Jung, archetypes have a formal characteristic. The first of these can occur when a certain image penetrates the consciousness and begins to be filled with life experience. Jung himself believed that a certain transformation was taking place thanks to myth-making. It also helps to transform the concept into an image. Sometimes this happens with involuntary statements related to spiritual events and, as a rule, are unconscious.
Despite the fact that the archetype is something meaningless, formal and generalized, it has certain properties. According to experts, based on the level of their emotional richness and distinctness, such initial schemes can captivate and impress the human nature. And only after that the artistic prototype, so necessary for creativity, is born.
In addition, according to Jung, humanity inherits archetypes. In other words, prototypes represent a collective unconscious legacy.
The archetype can be viewed in terms of concept or symbol. At the same time, it combines the psyche, body, images and instincts.
