The city of Novosibirsk is the center of Siberia. He earned his status thanks to many factors:
- extensive transport interchange connecting the most remote corners of the Asian part of Russia with the European one;
- more than one and a half million people;
- a large area of the city (13th largest in Russia);
- many scientific centers, high-tech industries, research institutes and higher educational institutions;
- developing economic sector and much more.
The administrative division of the city is always aimed at increasing the efficiency of managing the entire territory. So how many districts are in Novosibirsk and what are they?
The territory of the right bank
The Ob River flows throughout the Novosibirsk Region, which divides the city into two parts.
The boundaries of administrative facilities follow the line of the coast. Most of the city is located on the right side of the river. How many districts in Novosibirsk in this place? The total number of right-bank territorial units is 7.
- Central. The name itself speaks for itself - it is the heart of entrepreneurship and culture. The area of the district is only 6.4 km 2 , but 5 universities, 12 schools, main streets and avenues (including Krasny Prospekt), 21 museums, 3 theaters, a leisure park and many business centers are concentrated on it. In addition, there are 17 enterprises of light, food and defense industries that make a huge contribution to the city’s economy.
- Railway. How many districts in Novosibirsk, so many features. And the Zheleznodorozhny district justifies its name by the fact that it has stations and hotel complexes that welcome visitors and tourists in the first hours after arrival.
- Kalininsky. A young and developing district of the city, in which construction is actively ongoing, industry and culture are developing. Area - 46.2 km 2 . Large enterprises: PJSC Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrate Plant, Rusich OJSC, Iskra Mechanical Plant and many others.

Life-supporting enterprises, historical buildings, cultural values, sports complexes, large retail outlets - each district makes a significant contribution to the development of the city as a whole.
Left Bank Territory
This urban area is not as diverse as the right bank. Here are the Leninsky and Kirovsky districts, which represent the industrial and sleeping part of the city. Almost half a million people live in these areas, so the density of residential buildings is very high.
Education and healthcare is represented by a wide network. Also here is a technical university. The industry is represented by the heavy, light, food and engineering sectors.
Regardless of how many districts there are in Novosibirsk on the left bank (only 2), they play an important role in the life of the city and are an integral part of the majority of citizens, since they either live in these administrative units or work.
Exclusion area
One of the territorial objects of the city differs from all in its “dual” position: it occupies the left and right banks, forming a single Soviet district (bordering the southern part of the city).
The peculiarity of the territory is that there are fewer industrial enterprises on it than in other areas. But here is Akademgorodok, which forms the basis of the scientific development of the city. In addition, OJSC “Technopark of the Novosibirsk Academgorodok” operates there, which has become a platform for the implementation of innovative research by scientists.
