The Church of Boris and Gleb is the earliest white stone building in these places, which dates back to 1152. It was created at a time when the great Russian prince, Yuri Dolgoruky, ruled. All her lines are very simple, she has various decorative elements that look very restrained. According to many sources, the church was badly damaged during the Mongol invasion, but later it was restored in 1239. Throughout its existence, the temple was destroyed more than once, once again it happened in the XVI-XVII centuries. Many of its components were disassembled and stacked again. Interestingly, many archaeological excavations were carried out here. As a result, scientists managed to find a large number of objects, among which - a white stone sarcophagus, details of the decor that previously adorned the walls of the church, and much more.
Assumption Cathedral

Also, many important historical events took place here, for example, many Moscow and Vladimir princes were crowned reigning in the church . Of particular interest is the fact that the cathedral contains the frescoes of Andrei Rublev, fragments of which have survived to this day. The temple dates back to 1158, and in 1161 its walls were decorated with unique paintings. The Assumption Cathedral was significantly expanded after a fire at the end of the 12th century.

There are several reasons why a cultural monument is unique. For example, its location is truly unusual. Previously, the church was right in the place where the Nerl River flowed into the Klyazma. Thus, it was clearly visible from the water. However, subsequently the riverbeds noticeably changed. The temple began to be erected in 1165 under Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky, who decided to build it in order to perpetuate the memory of his dead son.

On them, in turn, were walls, as well as towers. Since the XV century, the construction began to be strengthened much better. At that time, a new massive wall of wood appeared with a gate and 15 towers. However, most of the buildings did not survive to our time, they were destroyed by a fire that occurred in the XVIII century.
