To change these characteristics, you first need to go to "Parameters", then go to the "Save" item and set the desired value there. Documents, even if they are saved normally, are simply of almost insignificant volume, so this should not even bother you.
Microsoft Word 2010
Fortunately, in this version of Word, Microsoft developers have already foreseen a variant of such a problem, so in this case there should be absolutely no questions. Knowing that their users are constantly looking for how to restore an unsaved Word document, the developers finally decided to make their own, simplified technology, which was originally used in the "Office" and can be used by any user. To do this, simply run a special function called “Restore unsaved documents” and get the source file. It is worth noting that, it is likely that the information will not be completely restored back to you, however it is much better than starting from scratch, and, in principle, now everything is done very simply, since even a child can restore an unsaved Word 2010 document.
You can find this item in the following way: File> Details> Version Control> Restore Unsaved Documents. After you follow the above path, a folder will open. It will contain various documents that you canceled, but which we nevertheless decided to leave our caring Word. In this folder you will need to select the file that you need. Microsoft Word 2007

If your document has ever been saved or has a specific name, then even after a sudden restart of the computer, you will be prompted to restore its previous copy. Thus, you can independently choose - after the malfunction, restore the original document or the copy that was automatically saved by the program in the process.
Microsoft Word 2003

After all kinds of crashes occur, you will be prompted to restore the file that the program saved automatically, or simply open the original file.
