What is imagination? Origin, meaning and interpretation

How to name a person who thinks a lot about chimeras, ghosts? But we’re not worried, it’s not that he has something with his mind, he’s just too susceptible to the rumors that swarm around him. Our nameless hero is inclined to think, this is obvious. That is, succumb to the opinions of others. There are a great many such people, and the Internet only inflates their paranoia.

Origin

Man in thought

Despite the fact that the origin is Slavic, it is derived from the Latin basis of mens, that is, “mind” or “reason”. And as the reader can easily and freely guess, “opinion” is a noun related to our today's hero - the verb “think”. And if you think a little, it will be interesting. It turns out that the mind and reason are useful and irreplaceable things in life, but if they give in to some bad trends, they can also engage in self-destruction under certain circumstances.

But nevertheless, suspiciousness is rather a trait of character than a property of reason and mind. The latter, on the contrary, should tell a person that, in fact, there is nothing to worry about and one can live on. However, we are getting ahead of ourselves.

Value

In order to speak with full right about the meaning of the word “think”, you need to turn to the explanatory dictionary, because we speak as if we already know the meaning of the word in question. So, these definitions: "Think, believe." It would seem that in two synonymous verbs that are designed to facilitate understanding, there is nothing wrong. However, the object of research over time has become understood purely negatively. It’s one thing to think about yourself, and something else to think about. If a person thinks about himself too much, then involuntarily comes to the conclusion that he is a good person, and in general a wonderful man or a wonderful woman. And then the people around him say: “Comrade, don’t you be so arrogant, you think too much of yourself, it doesn’t paint anyone!” By the way, we gracefully avoided the issue of the “comrade” gender, because the last can be both a man and a woman.

It is interesting that if a person comes to self-abasement in the course of thought, they will be told: “Don’t blame yourself, you’re not bad at all.” What does this indicate? Society does not tolerate self-praise, but tolerates self-criticism. Of course, in this way Christian motifs appear in the language. But let us leave this wonderful topic at its peak and move on to replacements.

Is suspiciousness good or bad?

the meaning of the word

This would seem to be an obvious question. Of course, imagining is bad! True, it is not always possible to be so categorical. For example, when a person is suspicious and goes to the doctor with every slightest pain, then perhaps one day he will notice a serious ailment at the very beginning. But the opposite is also true: time can be wasted, because fortunately, no mortal illness of a person will ever visit, and he will die of old age. By the way, according to the data presented in the book "Tanatology - the science of death", there are very few such finals, basically a person dies from diseases anyway, even if they happen in 90 or more years. Yes, and suspiciousness does not say that a panacea. You can always skip something.

What is the conclusion? There is no need to imagine anything unnecessary, this is useless, but caution must be exercised. And it’s better not to think about yourself in excellent tones: it’s the task of others, let the qualities of a person be appreciated by others. They know better if they are honest enough.
