Why does the laptop turn off and what to do?

It happens that a laptop suddenly shuts down during operation. Why does the laptop turn off and what to do?

The reasons for disconnecting a laptop can be hardware or software. It can be disconnected during the work from the accumulator and during the work from electricity.

If the laptop is turned off during operation from the battery, then most likely the reason is the malfunction of the latter, and it should be replaced.

The main reasons for the self-shutdown of a laptop running on an electrical outlet include: overheating of the equipment, crack of the motherboard, oxidation of the connector, poor-quality soldering of contacts.

In 90% of cases, the laptop turns off due to overheating. A working laptop generates a lot of heat, especially during demanding games and when watching high-quality movies. As you know, the cooling system is not the strongest place in a laptop, in the case of which there simply is no space for powerful fans. Overheating may occur due to malfunctioning ventilation. The laptop overheats if the air exchange openings are clogged with dust or are closed during operation by foreign objects. Air vents usually close when working on soft surfaces: blanket, pillow, carpet.

It is very easy to determine overheating - the laptop is too hot, ventilation is noisier than usual, constant โ€œbrakingโ€ and โ€œsquaresโ€ in games, processor load is close to 100%. When this mark is reached, the system of protection against overheating is activated, and the laptop turns off. Constant overheating of the laptop entails the failure of its various parts. Most often, the video chip exfoliates from the board.

In case of overheating, it may be necessary to repair the cooling system: removing dust, replacing thermal paste, cleaning the fan and lubricating it. If the fan is defective, then it must be replaced.

Another reason the laptop shuts down is a crack on the motherboard. This is typical for older laptops or in the case of its active use and careless attitude. Such cracks on the motherboard can occur if the laptop is dropped or knocked. Microcracks may not immediately affect the operation of the equipment, but as a result of the inevitable heating and cooling, they will become wider, and the laptop will turn off. The problem is solved by replacing the motherboard. Replacing the motherboard is quite expensive, which is not always justified.

The laptop turns off due to oxidation of any connector. This defect appears during improper use of the equipment. For example, use at unacceptable temperatures or the inclusion of a laptop just brought from the cold in a warm room. To fix the problem, re-solder or replace the connector.

And another possible reason for turning off the laptop is poorly soldered contacts. Such a defect is found on cheap models and on laptops that have been used extensively for a long time.

The laptop also turns off for software reasons.

This can happen due to antiviruses that consume a lot of resources, especially when scanning files or disks, loading the processor at 100%. The problem is solved by disabling some of the antivirus functions and enabling scanning only on request.

The next software reason is malicious and incorrect programs, leading to a "freeze" that loads the processor 100%. In this case, protection against overheating is triggered and the laptop turns off. It is required to get rid of viruses and remove incorrectly written programs.

The reason for turning off the laptop may be an operating system error, incompatible programs, program errors.

Spontaneous shutdown of the laptop occurs when a malfunction of the built-in and externally connected equipment.
