Mäkäräinen Kaisa is a well-known Finnish biathlete who has repeatedly managed to stand on the winning podium. Kaisa is a rather modest girl, so she does not really like to share with journalists about her personal life. However, we learn about how Mäkäräinen managed to achieve such success in sports from our article.
Childhood, youth athletes
The future Finnish biathlete was born on January 11, 1983. Kaisa's hometown is Kainuu. It is known that biathlon was not the only hobby for a girl. Kaisa was seriously interested in skiing. In this area, she even managed to reach some heights.
Kaisa's parents are ordinary people. Athlete's dad is a bus driver, and mom is a high school teacher. It should be noted that the girl spent all her childhood in a village called Ristijärvi (Kainuu).
For the first time, Kaisa started skiing at the age of 3, and at the age of 4 she already took part in skiing competitions. Parents then said that the girl was so carried away by this sport that she practically did not pay attention to ordinary children's entertainment. Until the age of 20, Mäkäräinen (Kaisa) was engaged in skiing. That she wants to do biathlon, the girl said at the age of 20. Then she spent her first race, showing amazing results.
Since then, Kaisa has become a permanent representative of the Finnish biathlon team.
Sports Results
Until 2005, Kaisa's results left much to be desired. Not once did a Finnish biathlete get into the top twenty. Only in 2006, the athlete managed to break into the top ten at the competitions held in Oberhof.
In 2006, Kaisa was among the thirty best in the global classification. This is her first significant success.
In 2007, Mäkäräinen Kaisa takes part in the summer world championship in the Estonian city of Otepää. In the second race, the Finnish team manages to win the relay. The subsequent sprint race also ends successfully. Kaisa finally began to reap the fruits of her hard work.
The beginning of the 2008/2009 season for Kaisa was not very successful. Only at the 6th stage of the World Cup did the athlete manage to take 2nd place in the mass start and pursuit.
At the end of the season, Mäkäräinen Kaisa receives a serious knee injury, which involves an emergency operation. Then the Finnish athlete thinks that she can put an end to her career. But as it turned out, it makes her even stronger. In the same period, Kaisa performs another operation - in front of her eyes. According to the athlete herself, it was her impaired vision that prevented her from achieving the highest results in shooting.
The 2009/2010 season is also failing. Only once Kaisa manages to take third place in the sprint race. Disappointment awaits at the Olympic Games. The reason for such a terrible performance of the athlete was an intestinal infection.
Luck and career failures
Season 2010/2011 is for Kaisa the most successful in his career. The athlete takes first place in the pursuit and second in the relay race. On the 2nd and 3rd stages, Mäkäräinen becomes only on the winning steps.
The athlete shows herself perfectly at the World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk. Kaisa wins the pursuit and wins the silver medal in the sprint.
Unfortunately, Kaisa does not succeed in the following seasons. So far in 2012 (in Oberhof) does not take second place in the sprint race. Only victorious places follow. Thanks to his efforts, Mäkäräinen Kais, whose biography is described in our article, receives the second Crystal Globe in his career.
At the 2015 World Cup, Kaisa receives the only silver medal. In 2016, the athlete manages to lead the pursuit, and at the 5th stage of the World Cup in Ruhpolding, the Finnish biathlete takes the 2nd place in the individual race.
Kaisa's personal life
Mäkäräinen Kaisa (height, weight - 187 cm and 58 kg respectively) lives under the same roof with her boyfriend Jarkko Kauppinen, whom he plans to marry in the near future. The athlete notes that there is nothing better in life than spending free time with your loved one.
It is worth saying that the Finnish biathlete loves to relax in the fresh air and travel.
We wish the athlete good luck at the World Championship in Holmenkollen, which starts on February 29, 2016, and for now we are satisfied with the races of the 7th stage in Canada.
