Many words in the framework of Russian speech sound almost the same, which even stares native speakers into a stupor. What can we say about unhappy foreigners who are forced to memorize not only definitions from dictionaries, but also master the conversational format?
For example, the word "dumbfire." “This is something related to haste,” you say, and you are mistaken. So how did this concept come about? What feelings and emotions does it hint at? Just look at the languages of the Slavic group.
Etymological analysis
Old and modern Czech offers many options. It has a lot of meanings:
- torment, flour;
- intoxication, dope;
- numbness
- delight.
It becomes clear that consciousness in this state is literally torn from multidirectional emotions. A person falls into a mild stupor, cannot completely decide whether to rejoice at him or suffer.
The old Russian version of "otorop" is more specific and means:
- confusion;
- insensibility

- fright.
For a simple person, the word “dumb” meaning is not the most positive. A state of severe stress, physical and spiritual numbness, when it takes some time for a full analysis of the situation. This happens when the news of an unexpected dismissal, an incident involving a loved one. The term is considered colloquial, it does not belong in an official discussion or at a social event when you want to demonstrate exquisite manners. It is decrypted in two ways:

If you want to declare your condition or tell the audience some interesting story, the word will be appropriate. It allows you to elegantly circumvent the concept of “fear”, to veil it with sublime intonations. In addition, “dumbass” is a broader definition that describes well-being in any setting.
Household use
When can you feel it? The word is often remembered in unpleasant situations: someone scratched your car, or sent a prohibitive account from the bank. But there is no negative connotation. Indeed, any non-standard, unusual for a person circumstances can cause bewilderment.
So, people of the older generation experience a rash if they need to work on a computer, and young people when studying their native language. This is a natural state that gives you time to think. First stops, and then mobilizes the mental resource of the body.
