Hard times have come in Udmurtia after the establishment of Soviet power. Izhevsk was an industrial city, the situation of workers in factories was difficult. How it all began
At the end of the thirties of the last century, a poultry farm was organized near the city of Izhevsk in the village of Varaksino. Varaksino is located eight kilometers from the center of Izhevsk, in the immediate vicinity of the city. The construction of this industrial facility allowed creating additional jobs, but the standard of living of the population remained low. The level of salaries lagged significantly behind the figures for the country. The poultry farm became an enterprise around which the life of the local population was concentrated.
Village development
It should be noted that the factory management took care of their employees. With the development of production, which was carried out mainly thanks to the enthusiasm of the workers, life was getting better. Gradually, residential multi-apartment two-story and five-story houses were built around the poultry farm. Workers were given apartments, trips to holiday homes, and plots for garages and garden non-profit partnerships were allocated on adjacent lands.
Residents of Varaksino village respect the leadership of Varaksino Poultry Factory LLC. A comprehensive school, a kindergarten were built in the village, there is a feldsher-midwife center, a cultural complex, and shops on the territory.
The highest object in the territory of Udmurtia is the Varaksino television tower, its height is 340 meters, that is, it is approximately a 100-storey building.
Factory of Hope
The poultry farm is the main enterprise of the village. In October 1963, it was allocated from the Izhevsk Poultry Factory to an independent enterprise. It began to be called the Varaksino Poultry Farm. In 1968, the Varaksino Poultry Farm was organized with a design capacity of 100 thousand laying hens. Since then, it reports directly to the Ministry of Agriculture. A new room was built, spacious and more modern, the work of workers was facilitated as much as possible. The factory is engaged in raising chickens with the aim of obtaining high-quality eggs.

Anatomy of production
This largest poultry farm in Udmurtia produces more than 2 million eggs daily. Eggs are incubated at the production site, day-old chickens are sent to the Votkinskaya and Izhevsk poultry farms and grown on the spot.
Chickens are grown for the production of canteens and eggs enriched with vitamins, in addition, the factory sells products from poultry meat. Adult chicken day starts at 6 a.m. after turning on the light in the house. The chicken lays eggs in the first 3 hours. One chicken gets one egg per day.
The floor of the cage is sloped so that the eggs do not break. The collection process is as automated as possible. The conveyor delivers the eggs to the primary sorting point, from where they are sent to the central egg collection.
On average, each poultry chicken brings 330 eggs per year. According to the Russian Federal Service for the Protection of Human Resources, this is one of the best indicators in the industry. The main sorting and packing of eggs takes place in the egg sorting workshop. Poultry workers sort about 1.7 million eggs per day. The operator puts the cassettes on the conveyor of the modern Dutch Moba egg sorter. Using pneumatic suction cups, the robot transfers the eggs to the conveyor, the automation determines the weight of the egg and distributes it into categories. After that, the machine determines shell defects and rejects low-quality products. In one hour, 240 thousand eggs pass through two sorting machines. Sorted eggs are sent for packing. Here they are once again checked and packaged. Modern packaging reduces the risk of egg fighting during transport to the counter. The Italian thermo-packaging machine "SmiPack" seals cassettes and large boxes with eggs. From here they are transported to stores located in 27 regions of Russia. The warehouse of the poultry farm is designed to store 9 million eggs. The quality of the egg depends on the conditions of the bird and its nutrition. The microclimate in the poultry house is constant, it does not depend on the weather and time of the year.
Achievements
The poultry farm has its own fields and a special feed preparation workshop, which produces 170 tons of vitamin grass meal per year. All this allows you to keep the bird in conditions as close to natural as possible, as if laying hens lived in the village. The Varaksino poultry farm is on the fifth line of the rating of the industry association of Russian poultry farmers, and is the repeated winner of the contest "100 Best Goods of Russia". The company has been a member of the large Russian agricultural holding company KOMOS GROUP since 2006. By 2018, Varaksino’s production will reach 755 million eggs per year.

When the Varaksino, Izhevsk and Votkinsk poultry farms were combined, the KOMOS holding combined financial management of all three sites, planning the order of payments, and formed cash flow budgets for each site. Significantly reduced the time for processing orders by the warehouse and 10 times the number of errors in the warehouses.
