Boyko Sergey is a former football player, and now a football referee. He is quite young - he was only 39 years old. While still a footballer, Sergey Boyko acted as a goalkeeper, but quickly completed his professional career.

Boyko Sergey was born on June 30, 1977 in the city of Belgorod-Dniester in the Ukrainian SSR. He began to get involved in football quite early on; his strength was standing on goal. Soon he joined the youth academy of the local club Dniester. It was there that he underwent professional training, step by step moved towards the realization of his dreams.
Boyko Sergey, like many young guys, dreamed of becoming a footballer and playing for one of the leading clubs in the Soviet Union. However, unfortunately, the level of a football player turned out to be quite low, so the goalkeeper was not destined to reach such heights. In 1995, when the Soviet Union had already broken up, Boyko signed a professional contract with Dniester, of which he was a pupil. At that time, the club already played in the Ukrainian, and not in the Soviet championship.
The game in the Dniester
Sergey Boyko is a football player who could not realize himself in big sport. In his native club at a professional level, he spent only two seasons. The athlete entered the field in eleven matches and showed a very good result, having conceded only six goals. Naturally, it was very difficult to fight for a place at the base because of the position - field players always get more chances, because they can leave the bench for a replacement or take a position that is not convenient for themselves, but still get game practice. Goalkeeper in this regard is not so easy, so most of the time Boyko sat on the bench. He played only 11 matches, but in them he showed himself from the best side. In total, he missed only six goals, but in 1997, when his contract with the club came to an end, he had to change his club registration.
Going to Portovik
In 1997, the young goalkeeper moved to Portovik, who also played in the Second League of Ukraine, but needed a goalkeeper. Sergey took a vacant place, but could not prove himself by good performances. He played 18 matches, but missed them too much - as many as 28 goals. Naturally, a similar result did not suit the club management, which decided not to renew the contract with the goalkeeper.
Therefore, in 1998, the 21-year-old goalkeeper remained in the status of a free agent - his track record was too unimpressive to attract the attention of any other club from the Second Division. Therefore, it was Portovik that became the last professional club for which Sergey Boyko played. The biography of the young man has changed dramatically since that moment.
Performances for amateur clubs
Boyko spent some time in search of a new team, but when he realized that he had nothing to expect from professional clubs, he went to the lower divisions, where he joined one of the amateur ones. He continued to play in various amateur teams from his native Odessa region, as well as from Odessa itself, but he did not reach the professional level.
Arbitrator career
When Boyko Sergey Nikolaevich finished playing football, he decided to become a professional judge. As a result, the former goalkeeper passed the necessary courses and received a license to serve matches of the Championship of Ukraine. His first game took place in April 2007 - it was a confrontation between the Nikolaev and Krymteplitsa clubs.
From that moment he began to constantly serve various championship matches. As a result, to date, he already has 108 matches in the Ukrainian league, the last of which took place on December 3, 2016, where he judged Lugansk Zorya and Dnipro. However, this is only work in the domestic arena. Smartly, he did not stop only in Ukraine and went much further, constantly gaining more and more fame and receiving more and more important matches.
Work in the international arena
In January 2011, Boyko received a FIFA license, which allowed him to judge games not only in Ukraine, but also abroad, in European and world tournaments. The first international match that he had sealed was the friendly match between the national teams of Turkey and South Korea, held in February of the same year. As for club games, he began with the Europa League, and in 2012 his first major international match was already held.
In September, Boyko was appointed chief referee for the game of the group stage of the Europa League between the French “Lyon” and the Czech “Sparta”. In the same month, Boyko got a chance to judge his first official match of the national teams - it was a duel of the qualifying stage for the World Cup between the national teams of Sweden and Kazakhstan. In 2013, Boyko also added to his track record work in the final of the European Youth Championship, where he worked at such important matches as the semifinal between the national teams of Spain and Norway. In February 2014, the referee seized his first playoff match in the Europa League.
