At school, everyone was taught that all professions are very important and there is not one that would not be needed by society. However, over time, everyone who was taught this unspoken truth understood: the labor market has its own laws and statistics, which suggests that some professions are needed more than others and are rated higher by employers.
The demanded specialties in most cases are the same in different countries, but there are still some differences. So, between the American, European and Russian labor markets there is a slight difference in the demand for the same professions. Further we will consider these differences.
The most popular specialties in Europe and America
Currently in America, software developers are very much appreciated. Ubiquitous computerization has led to the fact that this profession is valued almost everywhere, including in Russia and Western Europe.
Specialists with this profile are invited to America from other countries if they have proven in their homeland that they are true masters of their craft: preference is given to those candidates who participated in international competitions and won prizes.
Also in America, risk assessors are in demand, which analyze statistics on the likelihood of accidents, deaths, illnesses, property loss due to theft and natural disasters, and similar unpredictable incidents that can cause financial damage to banks and insurance companies. The salary of people with such a profession is great if they do their job well.
And one of the most popular and sought-after professions in America is office managers. They coordinate the work of employees, monitor the material and technical equipment of the office. In fact, the work of the company depends on the activities of these people, so their work is highly paid.
In Europe, the situation in the labor market is somewhat similar: IT specialists and managers with high-quality education are in demand.
Doctors are also in demand, the highest salaries here are among anesthetists. However, European doctors are not deprived of finances. Medical practice takes a lot of strength from a specialist (night shift duty, departure for calls), requires high qualification and a responsible attitude to work, therefore this work is paid high.
Demanded specialties in Europe are also represented by builders, drivers, security guards and waiters, but this work is not paid much in most cases. Only those who have achieved the highest skill in one of these areas are able to earn a little more than the average representatives of the profession.
The most popular specialties in Russia
As already mentioned above, IT specialists are needed almost everywhere, and Russia is no exception. Programmers who own 1C receive higher salaries than web developers, but the latter also have a high chance of getting a decent salary.
The demanded specialties in Russia, as well as in America and Europe, are represented by managers, secretaries and other professions, implying work in the office. Any company needs a secretary who speaks several languages, has a good memory and knows how to correctly fill out documentation and communicate with people. Salaries depend on what responsibility lies with the secretary, on the scale of the company. Russian managers, as well as American, are responsible for organizing the work of the company, so these specialists are very appreciated.
In addition, demanded specialties in the Russian labor market belong to three areas of activity: trade, law and accounting.
Sales representatives are needed in the trading sector : this is difficult work, but those who manage to successfully fulfill the requirements can receive normal salaries and will always find application for already acquired skills, because there are not enough competent specialists in this field.
Accountants and lawyers are also needed by Russian employers, but they are not always able to come to a consensus on the issue of wages: job seekers rate their knowledge and skills higher than employers, this is one of the reasons that these places are often vacant.
