Social conflict and its nature

Social conflict is a form of relationship between several entities that occurs as a result of a conflict of interest.

Conflicts of this kind are a fairly common occurrence. They have already become a kind of norm of modern relations, because without them there is no regular development of society.

Note that the role of subjects of these conflicts is played by individuals, as well as social groups of various sizes and kinds of activity, between which contradictions arose. Between subjects there can be antagonistic (irreconcilable) and agonistic (resolvable) relations.

Every social conflict has a tendency to develop and intensify. The thing is that its nature is cumulative, in accordance with which the contradiction intensifies if the response is available. Due to this property, all military operations are characterized by increased rigidity, and it is very difficult to repay domestic hassles.

Based on the underlying causes of social conflicts, they can be divided into:

1. Personal, which occur at the level of the human person and her consciousness.

2. Interpersonal. Their essence is that there are some disagreements between those individuals who are not members of social groups.

3. Intergroup, in which individuals participating in various groups take part.

4. Conflicts with the environment. They flare up between individuals, groups or objects of an institutional environment.

Social conflict has certain stages of flow, which are regular elements of its development and existence. The first of these is an attempt by a subject or social group to obtain satisfaction of their needs. In the event that it is unsuccessful, the individual tries to find ways to solve the problem. In this case, the need of the subject is blocked, the second stage begins. As for the third, it may not be possible to block the need. This condition is called frustration. After that, the subject of the conflict may stop making attempts to satisfy the conflict or begin to show aggression. After the fourth stage is completed, the phase of the actual conflict begins, which may be accompanied by single or multiple interactions. At this time, the opposing sides use various strategies and tactics, the purpose of which is to win the confrontation. The end result is the resolution of the situation.

Social conflict has a number of characteristics, among which the central place is given to reason. There can be a great many, for example, ideological contradictions, the opposite of interests, as well as the principles of economic or social inequality and so on. Any of the above reasons can be an impetus for creating a conflict situation. However, all of them are inextricably linked with the conditions in which this conflict proceeds.

The second characteristic is the degree of severity, then the consequences and duration, which are contradictory, are considered. Of course, the conflict leads to the choice of a way out of a difficult situation, strengthens group cohesion and leads to the conclusion of an alliance between groups. On the other hand, it is precisely these phenomena that cause destruction, bitterness, and hatred.

Social conflicts and ways to resolve them should be described. So, based on the nature of the results obtained as a result of such a situation, the contradictions can be resolved in the form of:

    1. Compromise (an option that suits both participants).

    2. Success (victory) for one side or another.

    3. The way out of the conflict.

    4. Losing one of the parties.
