The Start button is the main interface element of the Windows operating system family

Starting with Windows 95 operating systems , the Start button has become one of the main elements of the software interface. With its help, you can easily and simply access any computer resources. This innovation distinguished it against the background of previously existing software products of this class. A similar trend continued until the penultimate operating system, which is called Windows 7.

And here is a completely different situation with Win 8. The Start button is not provided for in its interface. This innovation has greatly complicated the process of working in this environment. The problem is serious: due to the complex organization of the interface, productivity is seriously lost. The solution, in principle, is today. With the help of additional mini-programs in Win 8, you can return it. But this is not a good decision, and you have to pay extra for this. As a result, on a PC running this OS you have to work without it. Hearing numerous indignant exclamations from users, the American software giant revised its development plans, and the Start button will certainly appear in Windows 8.1, which is expected to be released in 2013.

The second important milestone in the development of this component was the operating system called XP, in which it became possible to change the appearance of the button. Many with great pleasure took advantage of this innovation. A similar opportunity is also provided in the following products of this developer, which, respectively, were called Vista and 7. By the way, they initially changed the shape, it is no longer rectangular in them, but round in the basic configuration.

Now let's look at the composition of the menu items that the Start button opens, in the latest OS today - Windows 7. The menu consists of 2 columns, as in XP and Vista. Programs are located to the left of the user. On the upper right is access to files and documents. Below, there is a control panel and other configuration items. The program menu is divided into 2 parts. In one line below is a drop-down list of all the programs installed on the PC. To open it, just click on it with the left mouse button. At the top are 10 of the most commonly used programs, access to which is primarily provided by the Start button. The menu items for accessing documents, pictures, music, games, and β€œMy Computer” are sequentially located at the top left. Immediately below it are:

  • control panel (provides access to configure and configure the software product);
  • printers and devices (setting the hardware of PC and printing devices);
  • default program selection item;
  • support and help.

In the bottom line are: on the left - the search bar, on the right - the power button. Near it is a triangle, behind which there are hidden reset buttons, user shifts and other elements. During power-up, PC resources are heavily loaded, and a situation is possible when the Start button does not work. There is nothing wrong with this, and you need to wait for the end of the inclusion.

Start button does not work

From the foregoing, the conclusion suggests itself: it is impossible to work on a modern computer without this element of the system interface. Or, at least, this process will become very complicated.
