While still very young, we already loved to listen to fairy tales, gave parents books to read to us before going to bed. We really enjoyed getting to know interesting and instructive stories and looking at beautiful and vibrant illustrations. Then, when we had already learned to read on our own, we began to study literature, and the school taught the works of famous authors.
What does a book mean to a person?
Books are a source of knowledge, a storehouse of wisdom. It is from them that we learn the world around us, get acquainted with the rules of behavior. Remember how in a children's poem: “What is good? What is bad? ” By the same principle, we learn from other books.
Now we have already become very adults, graduated from school, and someone decided to connect their sphere of activity with the Russian language and literature. And here we go through all those works, novels, poems, fables that we studied in childhood. Only now we carefully analyze them and determine the meaning of what was written, reflect on what the author tried to convey to us.
Speaking of fables. In this article we will talk with you about famous works. Specifically, we are interested in Krylov’s fable “Quartet”.
about the author
There probably is no such person who does not know who Ivan Andreevich Krylov is and what contribution he made to the literature. His fables are part of the compulsory study program, are part of children's literature in the first half of the nineteenth century.
Krylov himself considered fables a folk genre. He said that both children and servants can read them. Fables reflected the thinking of the people, were written in a playful, aphoristic form. You may notice that most of the author’s works are created on topics that he took directly from life.
History of creation
Krylov's fable “Quartet” was not created by chance. After reading it, we see that the four beasts decide to play a quartet, but they do not succeed. The reason for writing was the author’s desire to ridicule the state body of Russia, that is, the State Council. It was created a year earlier than Krylov’s fable “Quartet” came out. The Council consisted of four departments. At their head were the nobles Mordvinov, Lopukhin, Zavadovsky and Arakcheev.
Analysis of Krylov’s fable “Quartet”
So, we have already found out that there are four characters in the fable whom Krylov presented as follows: under the Monkey he meant Mordvinov, under the Donkey - Zavadovsky, under the Bear - Arakcheev, under the Kozl - Lopukhin. They could not agree among themselves and share responsibilities, so they decided to swap places. Krylov’s fable “Quartet” presents us with the same picture. The animals do not have the ability to make music, but they decided at all costs to "captivate art with light." They consider themselves experienced craftsmen and professionals, although in reality they are nothing. Nothing changes from place to place, and failure also plagues them. The moral of this fable is the words of the nightingale, which the animals called for help. He said that in order to do something, you first need to have some knowledge and skills. And they (animals) are not suitable for musicians in any way.
Krylov’s fable “Quartet”, the text of which is read very easily, ends with the following words:
“To be a musician, skill is needed
And your ears are poorer ... "
In these words morality lies.
