How to get to the MAKS air show?
The venue can be reached by private car on the Egorievsky or Novoryazanskoye Highways. You can get to the exhibition by train from the Kazan station. You should get off at the station "Rest" or "Forty-second kilometer." Special buses run from these stations to the MAKS air show. You can get there by train or by bus operating on special additional routes that are valid only during the days of the aerospace salon.
The history of the MAKS air show
Holding events of this kind in Russia has a rich history. The first world-class aviation exhibition was organized at the beginning of the last century in Tsarist Russia. In the thirties, the Soviet government established an official Air Fleet Day. annually on this holiday large-scale air parades were held at the Tushino airfield.
The first exhibition of aviation equipment in the city of Zhukovsky took place in 1990.
The next air show was held two years later in the same place. Thus, the tradition of arranging the country's main aviation stores in Zhukovsky was reinforced.
In 1993, President Yeltsin signed a decree establishing the MAKS air show, the single venue of which was the city of Zhukovsky. The MAKS air show date is assigned every odd year. At the opening of each air show, as a rule, the first persons of the state make a speech. Since its founding to date, thirteen exhibitions have been held.
The most important event of this year in the aerospace field
The MAKS 2017 air show was opened by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. In his speech, he noted the importance of the aerospace industry as part of national culture and history, which the Russian people are rightly proud of. Putin also mentioned the growing popularity of the salon every year.
The thirteenth MAKS surpassed all the previous ones in terms of the number of equipment exhibited and the diversity of manufacturing countries. Within the framework of the show, products of more than eight hundred and eighty companies representing 36 foreign countries were shown. Ten foreign countries exhibited their companies' products in specialized pavilions. Information on aerospace production, concentrated in the capital of our country, was placed on a separate stand. The exhibition was marked with visits by more than fifty official delegations. The first part of the salon program, designed for specialists, gathered about seventy thousand professionals in the industry.
The official part of the event
The work of the MAKS air show in recalling the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov was highly appreciated. According to him, the result of numerous business meetings held within the framework of the exhibition was the signing of a number of documents on the supply of domestic equipment to other countries of the world. Denis Manturov also said that in recent years MAKS has become not only a prestigious exhibition of international level, but also an event that promotes the establishment of business ties and the foundation for the further development of partnerships.
The scope of transactions and potential contracts was analyzed using the questionnaire method for all participants in business meetings.
This questionnaire showed that during the negotiations many contracts were signed for the supply of products, and a large number of agreements of intent were signed on deliveries totaling six hundred billion rubles.
The following major transactions were concluded at the MAKS 2017 air show:
- contract for the supply of twenty Aeroflot Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger aircraft;
- contract between Ilyushin Finance Co. and Red Wings Airlines on the supply of sixteen MS-21 aircraft under operational leasing.
MAX 2017 in numbers
The number of events of the official part of the salon exceeded one hundred and fifty.
The main topics of discussion were: the transition from analog to digital technology in aerospace production and the issue of replenishing workers.
One of the options for resolving the last of these issues was implemented at MAKS 2017 with the help of Open Day for students.
On this day, over eight thousand students came to watch the air show and visit the aviation technology exhibition. A job fair was also organized for them, where twelve enterprises offered jobs.
The course of MAKS 2017 was followed by readers of more than five hundred and seventy Russian and one hundred foreign print media. The exhibition was covered in reports of thirty-two domestic and twenty-three foreign television channels.
Flight program
In the second part of the air show, open to all, traditionally, flight programs were demonstrated. Eight aerobatic teams showed their virtuoso aircraft control, including two foreign ones - from the United Arab Emirates and from Latvia.
There were several surprises for visitors to the exhibition. The MiG-35 fighter and the Mi-171Sh-VN helicopter were shown for the first time as an exhibit. For the first time, the Yak-32 aircraft, intended for training purposes, participated in the program of the air show.
In total, one hundred sixteen models of aircraft were exhibited as exhibits.

High level organization
In the first three days of MAKS, three special bus routes were allocated for the participants. In the next three days, the number of routes increased to seven. The railway connection was supplemented by several routes of electric trains on weekdays and dozens of routes on weekends. For those who chose to get to Zhukovsky by private car, seven parking lots were created, which could accommodate about seven thousand cars.
Additional parking was also organized in a neighboring village, which was able to take over twelve thousand cars for free.
The event was attended by several hundred volunteers from students of Moscow and the Moscow region.
One hundred forty-five young people with disabilities were given the opportunity to attend the air show. Two and a half thousand employees of internal organs, the Ministry of Emergencies and other structures were involved in ensuring security. The result of their well-coordinated and highly professional work was the complete absence of offenses and emergencies at the International Aviation and Space Salon.
