Today, hairstyles of a new type of dude will not surprise anyone by and large. You can dye green, cut off only one half of your head, shave off your hair and get a tattoo on the top of your head. But several decades ago in our country it was almost impossible or even unacceptable to look strange or extraordinary.
For example, in the postwar years, “relief” was allowed in relation to foreign cultures in the Soviet country. Young women and men were allowed to imitate Western fashion, wear European clothing, and listen to jazz. In addition, soldiers returning from abroad brought a lot of captured items, so unlike standard, quite clumsy, although solid examples of domestic industry.
After it became clear that the allies in the anti-Hitler coalition were unfriendly towards the USSR, and the Cold War began on the planet, clothes and hairstyles of the dude were banned. In 1947, a letter was published in the magazine "Soviet Woman" urging "to repulse Western fashion." Then the same letters were issued by almost all major print media.
In post-war society, people were required who could revive a ruined country, work on construction sites and on collective farms. And the costumes, dresses and hairstyles of the dude did not contribute to this in any way. Men then wore bright shirts with wide trousers, leather shoes of combined colors, later - jackets with extended shoulders, tight-fitting trousers. The girls were pulled in corsets and dressed in dresses with puffy skirts in the style of Christian Dior.

Many representatives of this trend belonged to the elite, and used foreign cosmetics and perfumes. They considered themselves the “cream of society”, which should somehow stand out, while others “fled” into this vivid illusion from the realities of shattered reality. Hairstyles dude immediately distinguished them from the general homogeneous mass. To get such a status, it was enough to simply lay curly hair around the head in the form of a crown (“corolla of the world”), use bright plastic hairpins, hoops and accessories, put on patent leather shoes.
What other famous features did dudes have? The men's hairstyle in the style of "coc" is still known as part of the image of Elvis Presley. To create it, the bangs rose up and fixed with a brioli. Often the image was complemented by a thin mustache ("bastards"), as well as almost always certain behaviors. Young people from this subculture almost always used jargon. For example, they called trousers “a trucker”, a hat - “hat”, and Soviet-made clothes - “matching”. Their lifestyle involved evening walks along the main street of the city (“make a heal”) in order to demonstrate their outfits.
How often did the hairstyles change? Photos show that there were not many options. For example, after the already mentioned "Corolla of the World" in the 50s. in this direction in the classic version can be attributed to laying "babette", which appeared after the film "Babette goes to war." She gained significant distribution in the USSR among famous women. It is enough to recall the images of Maya Kristalinskaya, Svetlana Svetlichnaya or Larisa Golubkina.
