Once upon a time newspapers were read from the last page on which satirical articles were printed. Variety couplets said to themselves: "What is in the morning in the newspaper, then in the evening in the couplet." News was discussed, catchy buzzwords were remembered. And what is feuilleton?
Someone will say: "This is a funny story." Another will add: "On a hot topic." The third will say: "This is satire." And everyone will be right.
What dictionaries say
The meaning of the word “feuilleton” in dictionaries is defined as a journalistic work of a small form of satirical orientation for a newspaper or magazine. Often he has an illustration of a cartoonist. His ancestor is a pamphlet.
Feuilleton went through several stages: during the French Revolution, it was an evil satire ridiculing the monarchy and the king. The feuilleton later became soft humor and was presented in the form of travel notes. With the advent of humorous magazines in Russia, it took a modern form. Due to the talented writing of feuilleton magazines were closed, but new ones appeared under a different name. This form of literature showed that the pen of a writer can be a weapon.
Unlike a humorous story
Journalists writing in the information style are well aware of what feuilleton means. They should avoid this genre in their work. Because their business is the facts. Comedians also know and remove from their works surnames, names of organizations and dates. As in the song: "Someone here and there sometimes." And only a writer with a strong civic stance will not indulge anyone, to be afraid, no matter what happens. He works with a pen, like a lance. His prose pricks and without a knife cuts the shortcomings of society. Its purpose is not to cause laughter, but to make fun of it. And not just, but on the basis of the facts that are given in the feuilleton.
It is no accident that the crocodile figurine with a pitchfork was chosen as the emblem of the satirical magazine “Crocodile”. Crocodile, as you know, toothy. He can bite. And if he doesn’t get his teeth, he’ll stick the pitchfork in his side. There was also such a heading in a magazine where urgent material was printed.
But there are such problems of society that are so often encountered that a simple indication of one or two facts is indispensable. There are thousands of them, "their name is the legion." Then the grotesque is applied. Exaggeration, exaggeration exacerbation and complete nonsense.
Feuilleton Ilf and Petrov
Ilf and Petrov fought with heartlessness, bureaucracy, hypocrisy. When such a person gains power, he is inclined to smooth out sharp corners so that nothing remains. The authors used the grotesque technique. What is feuilleton, their story “Savanarylo” will show. As always in the works of this genre, the action is progressive.
First, the editor for a long time hints at trying to convince the artist of the indecentness of the female breast. The artist is languidly defending himself. The editor insists. The artist agrees to reduce the chest, but the editor demands: “Young, without signs!” It was also not possible to win back the hips, and, ashamed for being married, the artist weaves home.
This is followed by a conversation between the artist and director Lucifer Markovich, dissatisfied with her beauty, breasts, flowering complexion, slimness and pearl set of teeth. He calls it "flaws." However, he recognizes the actress's talent and advises her to stoop. To do this, the Satanic assistant drags the horseshoes and hangs on the unhappy neck. One eye is tied to her with a black rag (very symmetrical eyes) and offers to play a role. The report on the props for the performance of the ballet girls is crowned with action: they were ritualized like Charlie Chaplin. They even gave out a mustache.
Now the authors say everything they think of such administrators, calling them ... no, not Savanarylo. They are compared with a stupid governess who never went out on the street - there are men there, it’s indecent — they are naked under clothes!
Feuilleton Zoshchenko
Mikhail Zoshchenko used an interesting technique in his works: his characters spoke a lively popular speech. By this they denounced themselves, scourged and exposed in a ridiculous light. Outwardly, a person may seem cultural and intelligent until he speaks. Or until he does something stupid, or until he does not allow rudeness, tactlessness.
What is feuilleton, vividly shows the story "Aristocrat" Zoshchenko. The man invited the lady to the theater, and in thoughts not having to treat her in the buffet with something tasty. And when the aristocrat, protruding her finger, ate three cakes and reached for the fourth, the gentleman shouted: "Lie back!" The following is a clarification of whether or not to pay for the crumpled cake. The line was divided into two camps. A man turns his pockets full of junk, while he feels offended. And it gives the vow never to meet with aristocrats.
The action accelerated to the end of the story. The writer deliberately put in the queue the same people who do not have a clue about manners. As a result, the paid but crumpled cake was eaten by "some uncle." But the feuilleton does not end there. M. Zoshchenko shows the reader the thoughts of the unlucky gentleman: “And he ate. For my money! ”
Everyone who read or saw the performance of this feuilleton from the stage remembered forever, experienced this awkward situation. And the lady, and the gentleman, and everyone in the queue - all are good. And the reader will not allow this in his life. Because feuilleton teaches.
That's what feuilleton means!
There is the concept of the effectiveness of feuilleton. This is the reaction that followed its release. Ideally, all bad things should be fixed immediately. And so it happens sometimes. It all depends on the talent of the writer and the acuteness of the topic. If there is real disgrace - the effectiveness should be high.
An example of how the pen of a satirical writer is able to make changes in the surrounding reality is the trumpet by A. Agranovsky. He wrote it on his own observations and on the basis of real facts in 1967, and it was published by the Izvestia newspaper.
The plot was reduced to the fact that ten people laid pipes for almost a month. They refused the weekend, so as not to impede work on an important construction site for the country. But only the work was done, they were ordered to cut the pipes into pieces and dispose of. The blame was blamed on the designers. The author personally explored all the circumstances and found out that the project changed three times. While work was going on according to outdated plans, new, opposite preparations were being prepared. As a result, illiquid assets per million were accumulated throughout the construction site. Truly Sisyphean labor!
After the letter came to the editors - an answer to criticism. Those responsible were punished, and an investigation was conducted into the issue of increasing the value of the object. Moreover, the government adopted a law on the liability of organizations.
