Institution Concept
The founders of the bar, a couple Olga and Anton, conceived it as a place where real connoisseurs of good beer and those who want to get to know this drink better will gather. Bar "Beer Etiquette" (Marata, 14) has opened its doors to all interested in brewing, lovers of tasting new, interesting beers. Here, they do not just drink, but also replenish their knowledge about their favorite intoxicating drink. Beer presentations, theme nights, communication with fellow collectors - all this can be found in Beer Etiquette.
They look at the bar not only to skip a mug or two for an interesting conversation about beer and everything connected with it. In the evenings, fans often gather here to watch sports broadcasts of matches with friends and like-minded people. And every third Sunday of the month, Pub Beer Etiquette holds meetings of the St. Petersburg Club of Beer Paraphernalia Collectors. At such meetings, you can draw a lot of curiosity about this intoxicating drink.
What is poured?
The founders of the bar did a good job to please their guests with the best beers brewed in small breweries in the Northern capital. Having glanced at “Beer Etiquette” for the first time, you can easily get confused in the variety of choice of a hop drink for every taste and color. But do not worry, and also do not take the first thing that caught your eye. The bar staff makes easy contact and will happily advise you on a drink that meets your preferences, tell you more about the variety you like, and even let you taste a couple of options.
Petersburg varieties
As befits a good pub, which undoubtedly refers to Beer Etiquette, the beer menu here is extensive, there is a draft, bottle, and craft menu. Some varieties are "regulars of the bar" and are always available, others are replaced from time to time. Let's talk about a few of them.
Draft beer
For example, “Vaclav Copper” is an amber-brown bottom-fermented beer with a light texture and airy white foam. The drink is refreshing, with a soft malt flavor on the palate. Landskrona Ale - on the contrary, is more complex and thick, but very aromatic beer the color of ripe apricot. It has a moderate bitterness and a pronounced malt taste, and the composition is completed by honey-hop notes. Another variety that is always available in the bar, Keksholm Porter, is a dark opaque ale with a pronounced taste of roasted grain and a deep malt filling. Lovers of good dark beer will surely appreciate it.

Guest varieties of hop drink are no less interesting. For example, a beer with the catchy name Die Another Day. It is also called barley wine, characterized by high density and strength (10%), but at the same time it is sweet, with a multi-layered taste and restrained spicy aroma. Or wheat beer Wheat house, which is distinguished by fruit notes on the palate with pronounced aromas of banana and spicy cloves. It has a thick dense cap made of foam, it is drunk easily and pleasantly.
Bottled beer

Beer with the bright name "House MD" is bottled with a cork cork jam. This ale is brewed in the style of the Belgian blond: its aroma is formed by soft notes of yeast and fruit-spices, the taste is malt, rich, with a bright long aftertaste. Another interesting variety is the Bluebeard dowel. This is a double fermented beer brewed in the Belgian style with fermentation in a bottle. It is characterized by high strength and density, but low bitterness in taste. It is brewed from four types of malt, which are noticeable in taste. Fans of coffee and dark beer will surely enjoy Coffee Staut, which has a deep rich taste with pronounced aromas of chocolate and coffee.
Of course, “Beer Etiquette” will offer you a much more extensive and interesting choice, but we only focused on some of the options we liked.
What is the snack?
Where there is beer and intimate conversations, there should be food. I did not fail with the Beer Etiquette kitchen, reviews of which are very good. Snacks here, like beer, are varied. Be sure to try herring and cheese-crab balls with garlic - it’s so interesting to play already familiar dishes to everyone. You should not refuse from appetizers in the Spanish style - pincho (stuffed baguette): with vegetables and anchovies, with tuna, sausages and caramelized onions. Of the snacks, beef, chicken and pork chips are also interesting.
There are burgers, and hot dishes (a steak with all your favorite purees is very good), and even pancakes. You will not be left hungry here, as well as sober.
The interior and atmosphere of the bar
The nondescript sign at the entrance is compensated by a riot of bright colors in the interior of the bar. At first glance it may seem that this is not a pub at all, but an oriental restaurant. But as soon as you see a long bar, laden with a huge number of beer bottles with bright labels, and on the wall along the tables glued in a row of beer coasters, carefully collected by the founders, the shroud of the East will subside.
Sit back and enjoy - beer, conversation, broadcast of the football match and all the atmosphere that prevails around. Here you can truly relax, forgetting for a while about things in the circle of the same connoisseurs of good beer. By the way, girls like the bar no less than men. Still, surrounded by men and delicious beer, not one beauty would be bored.
Beer Etiquette Issues
At some point, for the bar, as well as for its visitors, the atmosphere here did not become very bright. The owners of the pub got involved in a real adventure, deciding to take part in the show "On the Knives" with Konstantin Ivlev. From the first minutes of filming, the founders realized what they had gotten into, but it was too late to retreat. Having learned about the filming of the program, the pub chef quit, so all the problems and deficiencies in the kitchen had to be scooped up by the sous-chef. There were a lot of remarks, screams and stress - although most of this came from the time the camera was turned on. As the owners themselves say, Konstantin is a rather pleasant and even friendly person, but the transmission format requires “passions and a mat”.

During the transfer, a huge work was carried out in all directions, from the kitchen to the interior. The latter, by the way, did not appeal to both the guests and the founders of the bar (but once they started, it was impossible to retreat). Especially off topic were bright posters in the style of pop art. Alterations in the menu were more to the liking - in this, Konstantin and his colleagues pleased the public of the bar: both the presentation, the quality of the dishes, and the assortment were raised to a higher level. The program "On the Knives" did not pass without a trace, there were many changes. Not all of them were pleasant, but the owners were still satisfied, as they brought out good experience from all this "showdown".

This is not to say that after such a project, Beer Etiquette lost the respect of citizens, but many did not like the changes at all. Therefore, after the shooting, some things Olga and Anton returned to their places (including menu items). At the bar, you can still have a great time, enjoy a high-quality hop drink and chat with the bartender on the topic of brewing. This is the most important thing in the atmosphere of the pub, and the owners and employees of the institution managed to keep it.
