Reserves of human intelligence is an area that has yet to be studied for many, many years. Despite the rapid development of scientific progress, the physiology of the human brain is still largely a secret, hidden behind seven seals.
Gradually, however, the twilight cover over the nature of the mind is ajar. This is due to the tireless work of many scientists of various disciplines: genetics, biology, psychology and others.
This review will present exercises for the development of the human brain, which have established themselves as good practical tools to increase intellectual potential.
1. Liberation of consciousness
This first exercise aims to free the inner space of the mind from annoying, irrelevant thoughts. Thus, it allows you to significantly relieve your head of “garbage” - secondary information, in order to further focus on the main thing.
First you need to take a piece of paper and write in it everything that is constantly spinning in your head. We are talking about obsessive thoughts, desires, plans, ideas and the like.
When recording, it is advisable to formulate sentences as concisely as possible, dispensing with a minimum of words. It is not worth paying close attention to particulars and details; it is quite enough to state the essence. At the same time, remember: the larger your list, the better!
When all the thoughts in your head are represented on paper, you can proceed to the next step: reduction. In short, you just need to reduce each item on your list to one or two keywords.
As a result, you will get a comprehensive list of everything that usually bothers you throughout the day. Thanks to it, the risk of forgetting or losing sight of something is minimized. Now you just need to cast a glance at this list to remember things that require certain actions, and not load your head with useless information. In addition, this exercise for brain development helps to cool the inner world.
2. Mental massage
To begin, take a comfortable posture, relax and take a few deep breaths. Then close your eyes and imagine your brain inside the head. When you do this, imagine that you are massaging your brain with an imaginary hand. Such mental actions will in fact have a relaxing effect.
First, massage the outer layer of the brain, gradually moving inward. Repeat this cycle without haste over and over again, allowing yourself to free yourself from tension and stress. Simultaneously visualize how an area of the brain is filled with energy.
After some time, you will feel pleasant warmth and a slight ringing in your ears. Do not pay attention to him, just continue the mental massage. The same applies to all sorts of thoughts that can spontaneously appear in your head. Let them be, but do not cling to them and avoid conscious mental activity. In the end, you can just relax and sit in a chair.
This exercise will allow you to relieve tension, restore energy balance and optimize brain function. As a result, you will increase the productivity of mental activity, especially if you regularly repeat this training.
3. Concentration exercise with a clock
Concentration is a key skill for intellectual development. It opens the door to a world of tremendous achievement, as it helps to keep all the necessary things and information in focus. Concentration is also closely related to memory, and therefore it is very important to maintain it at the proper level by performing various developmental exercises. Here is one of them.
Put a watch with a second hand in front of you. It is important that you, without straining, be able to focus on her gaze. To do this, position the watch so that it appears in front of your face at a comfortable distance for you. As in the last exercise, take a few deep breaths and exhale, and then start to watch the ticking of the clock, focusing your attention on the movement of the second hand. At the same time, do not be distracted by extraneous thoughts and do not look away. If, however, it so happened that you were distracted, then do not worry - there is nothing to worry about. Just start all over again.
Do the exercise as long as possible. To begin with, try to withstand at least a couple of minutes, but increase the concentration time over time. Ideally, you need to develop the ability to save it up to a quarter of an hour or more.
When you feel confident, complicate the training by putting the clock in front of the TV. You can also create other obstacles for yourself, for example, turn on the radio or something like that. This will allow you not only to build up concentration, but also learn to maintain it against the background of distractions.
This exercise for brain development can also be practiced with a candle and in general with anything - from any point in space or plane. The advantage of working with a watch is that it will be easier for you to keep track of time.
4. Creative skills development exercise
To hone your creativity, you need to develop the right hemisphere of the brain. There are different exercises for this, but the most simple and at the same time very effective is the following. Try to do as many things as possible with your left hand (for lefties - with the right). This will allow you to avoid automatism and stimulate the development of the right hemisphere, which is responsible for creative abilities. For example, brush your teeth with your left hand, hold cutlery, ballpoint pens, wipe dust, open doors and windows, and so on.
5. Sensory exercise
To improve the functioning of those areas of the brain that manage information received from the senses, there are a number of simple techniques.
As you know, the main source of information about the outside world for a person is vision. Therefore, the other senses are relegated to the background. To stimulate their development, you need to often do the usual things with your eyes closed. For example, to go around the house, take a shower, pour tea and so on. In addition, it would be nice to learn sign language, or at least simply agree with relatives about sometimes being explained exclusively using gestures and conventional signs. Another good method is to carefully feel some small object, such as a keyring, and then, putting it aside, imagine it in detail.
6. Exercise for the development of associative memory
The next training takes the form of a kind of game for the development of the brain. It involves regular image experimentation. Try to periodically change the hairstyle and hair color, put on unusual clothes, try to wear different jewelry, etc. The result of all these actions is similar to the so-called “jacket effect”, when the latter literally changes the mind of a man. So it is with women heels. And frequent experiments with these connections allow us to develop associative thinking well.
7. Training for the development of spatial memory
This exercise for brain development, as shown by recent discoveries in the field of physiology, can significantly push the boundaries of mental potential. It is about using non-standard methods to solve familiar problems. For example, always going to work or home in different ways, each time in new ways, dressing contrary to the usual order, etc. The less automatic rituals you have left, the better, as this will stimulate the development of spatial memory, as well as a number of other skills. The development of the cerebral hemispheres with this approach to everyday affairs will affect your creative and professional qualities - you will begin to easily select non-standard solutions for difficult situations and, in general, “pump over” what is usually called ingenuity.
8. Exercise for speech development
Try to get rid of your speech from stereotypical phrases. This is especially true for answers to common questions such as "how are you." The exercise for brain development in this case is to come up with something original, interesting every time. This will increase your creative abilities, make you a more interesting interlocutor and develop brain areas called the Wernicke and Brock areas located on the left temporal part.
Some rules for your child’s brain development
If you decide to apply one or another development technique not for yourself, but for your own child, then consider a few rules:
- Talk more with your child. Even if he is at that age at which he is not yet aware of the information brought to him.
- The best games for brain development are arbitrary plot-role-playing scenarios. Let the child fantasize, and your task is to help him with the rules by unobtrusively introducing him to the outside world. For example, if your child plays as a space traveler, then tell him about weightlessness, about huge distances, about the absence of air outside our atmosphere, etc.
- Praise the child not so much for his talents as for his diligence. Encouragement for congenital tendencies is fraught with the passage of time into exaltation, while the reward for effort teaches diligence.
- Do not turn activities with children into a tribute to your own ambitions. In other words, let the brain of the child develop at its natural speed without forcing events. Some parents, in order to show off to others, begin to put pressure on their child, causing the development of desired skills as early as possible. In practice, this is fraught with failures in the development of the brain, so give up the desire to earn fame as the parent of the child prodigy.
- Do not demand too much from your offspring. Coercion, especially in childhood, kills the research spirit, and the loss of curiosity, in turn, slows down development.
- Consider the interests of the child. If you want to see your child in the future as a musician, while she hates making music, it’s best not to rape him and let me concentrate on what he really has interest and inclination for. Always remember that the preferences of the child are above your own.
