The ancient Russian city of Yaroslavl is recognized as the unofficial capital of the Golden Ring of Russia. Located in the central part of the country, the city has many preserved historical monuments. But not only this attracts tourists here. Yaroslavl can also be called sports pride of the country. Basketball - “Yaroslavich”, hockey - “Lokomotiv”, football - “Shinnik” (formerly “Chemist”).
Creating a sports base
The city leadership actively supports and promotes the development of athletes. This can be clearly seen both in the standings of the teams and in the training bases. One of such bases for victories was the Shinnik stadium in Yaroslavl.
The sports arena in the city on the basis of the Tire Plant was conceived. In 1957, the Shinnik stadium in Yaroslavl was officially opened at ul. Labor, 3. Then, in January 1957, the home football club (FC) “Shinnik” began its triumphal march to victories at the stadium. Until 1960, the name was “Chemist”, as the team belonged to the sports society of the same name. Further, the patron of the club became the Yaroslavl tire factory - a global giant. He began to produce artificial rubber first in the world.
But the emblem is preserved
After the collapse of the USSR and its economy, FC Shinnik became more sponsors. Nevertheless, the topic of tires did not go anywhere - it not only remained in the attributes, emblem, but also became somewhat brighter - bright green was added to the black-and-white-blue gamut - the color of the football field.
It's time for a change
By the beginning of the 2000s, the entire sports complex, and not just the football stadium in Yaroslavl, was in some kind of technical decline. And for high-quality sports training you need a well-equipped training base.
And in 2002, a phased modernization and re-equipment began. First, we installed the largest video display in Russia for broadcasting matches. In 2008, the Southern Grandstand was rebuilt for 4,390 seats in three sectors. But, unfortunately, on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of Yaroslavl, the Shinnik stadium in 2010 did not have time to reconstruct.
All further events took place gradually, without disruption and rash promises. In 2001, the Shinnik stadium in Yaroslavl hosts the Final of the Russian Cup. In 2012, it is being nominated as a stadium for hosting matches in the framework of the World Cup in 2018. But by decision of the FIFA commission, it will become a training base for the 2018 World Cup teams.
In the meantime, reconstruction of the Shinnik stadium in Yaroslavl continues. Already, fans note that the stadium meets international standards. And after the 2018 World Cup, the facility will be operated as efficiently as possible.
Reconstruction financing is carried out within the framework of the Federal Target Program “Development of Physical Culture and Sports in the Russian Federation”. It is planned to change the canopy over the stands, athletics tracks, replace the football field cover with the reconstruction of the drainage system as a whole, with the installation of irrigation and heating. It is also supposed to improve the security system.
Stadium and his team
Now the capacity of the Shinnik stadium is almost 24,000 people. Here, judiciously approached the placement of fans of the opposing teams: on the South stand fans of the home team, on the North team of guests. The conditions are comfortable for everyone.
The Shinnik football team has been playing since 2011 in the National Football League Championship. Since 1957, FC made its way to the Major League Group B (1992), then with varying degrees of success, playing in the First League division, High Division, Premier League, and First Division of the Russian Football Championship.
The most famous players of the club in recent years: Pavel Pogrebnyak, Denis Boyarintsev, Yuris Lizan.
Football players were trained in different years by Viktor Ponomarev (1959-1962), Valery Chistyakov (1985-1988), Victor Maryenko (1971-1978), Sergey Juran (2006-2008). Since December 2012, the coach of Shinnik has been Alexander Pobegalov, who already headed the club in 2000-2004 and 2010-2011. It was under his leadership that the team in 2001 first entered the Premier League of the Russian Championship.
He is an extraordinary coach. There is no playing experience, but he studied in Spain, England, Italy. In the season 2015-2016 in the FNL before the match with Baltika (FC Kaliningrad), he promised to make himself a tattoo in the form of the Shinnik emblem in case of victory. Since then, a tattoo of the team appeared on his left shoulder.
Center for Sports Attraction
FC “Shinnik” has long become an attractive sports point in the city. In winter, an ice rink for citizens is flooded here, city and interschool sports events are held here. And when you need help, the stadium’s management simply turns to the residents of the city. So, for example, in the winter of 2017, FC Shinnik requested to help clear the football field from the snow that had covered it. And all this happened the day before the home match with FC Volgar (Astrakhan).
And not only Yaroslavl are involved in the football life of Shinnik. The Miss Shinnik beauty contest is annually held as part of the Miss FNL-FONBET national contest. The results are published both on the official website of FC Shinnik and on its pages on social networks.
In the summer of 2017, a year before the start of the World Cup, the stadium is closed for training, since it is necessary to complete the reconstruction completely. And all the same, now it was not in vain that they began to call it the pearl of Yaroslavl.
