Aunt gave birth to a baby, the carriage was unloaded, and the speech of the young bully from a little story turned into outright nonsense. And then everyone had a common quality and it is denoted equally in speech. Its meaning is today's topic.
What does a pregnant woman, a loaded platform and an honest gopnik have in common?
The definition of “empty” cannot be applied to all of them. This word is pronounced when:
- The observed object is absolutely empty. To meet a woman with empty buckets is a bad omen.
- Some place is not taken by anyone. The auditorium remained empty.
- If a woman is not pregnant, she is called empty (in some regions of Russia). In the masculine and neuter gender, this adjective is used in this sense only in an ironic or figurative sense. The writer kept walking empty; he could not conceive a new novel. An unusually dry summer grandfather called empty, that is, not "pregnant" with a plentiful harvest, like the past.
- In conversations about transport, any of its units that carry nothing (neither passengers nor cargo) is called empty.
This is about speaking.
But some dictionaries give their own interpretation, though quite close.
The technical railway dictionary defines the run of the train as empty in the meaning: traveling empty from the point where it was unloaded to where it will be loaded again. The direction of its movement is also called empty, and the opposite - loaded. And all this composition is called "empty."
In the dictionary of youth slang, this noun, formed from the adjective, has the meanings of either:
- nonsense;
- nonsense;
- false information;
- False;
- slander.
Or is it used to mean:
- failures;
- failure plans that were outlined.
For example: "he drives an empty man through life."
In this context, the word is used by people of low culture.
On the podium, as in a vacant lot
It is believed that the word "empty" is formed from the expression "pour over from empty to empty." It means doing nothing. That is a meaningless, meaningless occupation.
The figurative meaning of the adjective “empty” (conversations, pastime) is similar. And it also matters: empty, undeveloped.

This word occurs in proper names. “Empty Flight” is a Soviet full-length black and white feature film.
- Bolshaya and Malaya Porozhnye are rivers in the Komi Republic.
- Porozhnaya (Zagonikha) is a river in the Altai Territory (source near the village of Rodino).
But just as these rivers cannot be completely empty (unless finally dried up), a conversation about the meaning of words in their native language cannot be considered empty-handed.
