Many words cease to be used in speech due to obsolescence, but the language is continuously and fairly intensively replenished with new terms and expressions.
Over the past 10-15 years, historical changes have occurred in Russia: in the economic, cultural, political systems, scientific and legal fields, in the mentality of the people, which has also affected the vocabulary of our language. New lexical units (words and expressions), which were neither in the literary, nor in the everyday language, nor in social or territorial dialects, are called neologisms. One of these terms - “stuffing” - will be discussed in the article. What is this concept? What does it mean? In what areas is it applied?
The concept of throwing
Nowadays, the Internet has become an integral part of life, many completely abandoned TVs and other media, receiving information, news from the Internet. And here it is appropriate to understand: what is a stuffing? This is a slang word, which came from the word "throw". It means the term “toss onto the world wide web any information that should cause strong public outcry and mass discussion, and best of all, condemnation of the public”. That is, stuffing is information, most often false, that causes heated debate and discussion on the Internet.
If your stuffing was a success, then young people usually say: "they made a stuffing." Often inaccurate information is placed on an Internet resource in order to increase attendance, which leads to an increase in the viewing of commercials and, consequently, an increase in profits.
Slang
Stuffing is a youth slang, and the word is used in three meanings: compromising, false, insulting. For example, “it’s not very similar to the stuffing, probably it’s true.” The word began to be used not only in colloquial speech, but also in poems, and even songs. For example, in the words of Lizzie’s song “Diss to Ateva”: “You are just a pose. I’ve waited for stuffing ”- the term is most likely used in the meaning of“ false ”, since“ poseur ”means“ schmuck ”, and by“ stuffing ”we mean the expectation of some sensational false information.
The term is used not only in colloquial speech, but also in Internet slang. In fact, the World Wide Web is full of various kinds of information, the reliability of which remains in great doubt. And here the stuffing is fictitious stories or stories, false information with unreliable facts or without them at all. But then a number of questions arise. How to determine whether this is a stuffing of information or the truth? Can't you believe anything on the Internet?
Signs of stuffing
To distinguish reliable information from fictional, there are several signs. So, if this is a fictional story, then:
- It is presented without facts and evidence.
- She is very believable and realistic, and sometimes even super-realistic.
- She is not in doubt. Moreover, the Internet source where the information was taken from is often indicated.
You should always think with your own head and understand that more than 85% of information in the media and the Internet is a stuffing. But at the same time, one should not treat him negatively - this is just a term that means "fictitious information." You just need to change your attitude to what is read and heard, and have your own opinion.
The meaning of the concept
In general, recently the term has been used very often in the meaning of “false information”, but there are other meanings:
- Throwing, adding something somewhere. For example, “You can do without stuffing grain into the domestic market of the country.”
- The publication of certain information. For example, "stuffing data about the candidate for mayor."
- Neologism is used in the political environment when it comes to adding unaccounted votes in order to change the results (in elections), that is, falsification or falsification of votes. For example, "tired of stuffing ballots in the elections, carousels and bribing voters."
The synonyms of the term are the following words: deception, fake, falsification.
Stuffing information
There are deliberate stuffing and unintentional. An example of unintentional are reposts of unverified information in social networks. Or, for example, when unverified data is published (without intent).
Intentional:
- Carousels. The essence of this type is that there are at least 2-3 promoted and well-known sites. Information is placed on the first, the second rewrites it in your own words and refers to the first site, the third to the second, and the first makes a link to the third. Information is looped. The scheme is simple and designed for ordinary readers who do not analyze or verify anything.
- An authoritative site writes news and refers to major news agencies, and does not link to the source of this news, but to the site itself. To check the accuracy of the news, you need to go to this site and manually look for it, and if it is not there, then it was a stuffing.
- Link to reputable people. The same scheme as with news agencies. Indicate as a source of news the name of a famous person. Such information is very difficult to verify, you must independently seek the interview of this person.
- There is such a scheme: reliable news is created, and then through several other sites it gradually changes and ultimately acquires a completely different meaning.
- Any specific data is deliberately distorted. For example, information is written quite reliable, but quantitative characteristics are intentionally changed.
These are the main ways to create stuffing in the information space. Before discussing something, it is necessary to check the reliability of this or that information, analyze it and find the source.

Another area in which this expression is used is the political environment, in particular when it comes to elections, and more specifically about ballots.
Throwing in ballots is an election violation, which consists in putting more than one ballot paper in the ballot box by one person. This illegal act is carried out with the aim of influencing the voting results.
