Hockey biography
Konstantin Volkov was born in Leningrad in 1985. In this city, he took his first steps in sports. He began his professional career in 2003, when he was 18 years old. The first professional team of Volkov was the club "Izhorets", speaking in the First League of the Russian championship. Also, the athlete played in the Russian Hockey League for the Tver team, the Air Force CSK from Samara, the Togliatti Lada, the Podolsky Vityaz, the Hockey Club Dmitrov and another Podolsk club Lynx.
In the Togliatti club, he even made his debut in the Super League, having played one match in the 2004/05 season. At Vityaz, he finally managed to prove himself fully. For two and a half seasons in this team he scored 17 points in the “goal + pass” system (scored 10 goals, gave 7 assists). Total spent for the Podolsk team 78 games. And in another Podolsk team called “Lynx”, Konstantin became the club’s top scorer. In the 2008/09 season, he played 61 matches, where he scored 29 goals and gave 38 assists. On it, in fact, the whole team rested.
To Moscow!
Having shown himself in the second echelon of Russian hockey, a promising young player went to conquer Moscow. In 2010, Konstantin Volkov signed a contract with the team of the HC MVD from Balashikha. In the 2009/10 season, this club was one of the leaders of the Continental Hockey League. In the regular season, the team became the second in the Western Conference, winning 31 matches out of 56. In the playoffs, the team, which Konstantin Volkov played, very confidently beat CSKA (3-0 in the series) and Dynamo Riga (4: 1) . In the semifinals, the confrontation with the Yaroslavl “Locomotive” turned out to be protracted.
In Balashikha and Yaroslavl, the teams exchanged victories and went to the second round. In a home meeting, the HC MVD loses to Lokomotiv in all respects with a score of 0: 4, however, in a return match, the railroad workers are unable to arrange a ticket to the finals. Ugarov, Soloviev and Babenko bring victory (3: 1), and the score in the series again becomes equal. The decisive seventh match is played in Balashikha. Tsvetkov and Kokarev in the second period provide a victory for the hosts - 2: 1.
In the final, Konstantin Volkov, whose photo at that time was decorated with many sports publications, and his teammates met with Kazan “Ak Bars”. The series did not work out from the very beginning - at home HC MVD lost twice in a row. However, in Tatarstan he took the favor, equalizing the score in the series - 2: 2. And having won the home game, he was completely ahead. Hockey players of Balashikha hoped to get the championship in Kazan on April 25, but were defeated in all respects with a score of 7: 1. By the decisive seventh meeting, they never came to their senses, losing at home. Only silver medals were won by Konstantin Volkov. The hockey player became the country's vice champion.
In the metropolitan Dynamo
The very next year, the club from Balashikha was disbanded. Konstantin Volkov, whose biography was already clearly associated with hockey, signed a contract with Dynamo Moscow. In the 2010/11 season, he was one of the club's main hitters. He scored 5 goals. The team took second place in the Western Conference, but in the playoffs they unexpectedly lost in the 1/8 finals of Riga Dynamo with a score of 2: 4.
But twice the club won the Gagarin Cup. In 2012, together with the metropolitan Dynamo, Konstantin took second place in the Western Conference, losing to St. Petersburg SKA. But the playoffs began with confident victories over Minsk “Dynamo” (4: 0) and Nizhny Novgorod “Torpedo” (4: 2). In the semi-finals of 4 victories in a row, the “blue and white” defeated SKA.
The final with the Omsk “Vanguard” turned out to be stubborn. It came to the decisive seventh match. In Omsk, Dynamo won 1-0, scoring a single goal in the third period. In 2013, Muscovites again became second in the Western Conference, but reached the final series. In rivals this time was the Chelyabinsk “Tractor”. Gagarin Cup managed to win in 6 matches.
Ural voyage
Currently, Volkov stands for Yekaterinburg "Motorist". He joined this club in 2016. In the Eastern Conference, the team took 11th place and could not get a ticket to the playoffs. Avtomobilist won only 25 matches out of 60. Up to the coveted 8th place, which the Chinese Kunlun team took, was not enough 4 points.
