Absolutely every lover of Ukrainian football knows Sergey Rebrov. Over his 18-year career, he has played more than 423 matches - and this is only in the national championships! The athlete has won many personal and club awards. And so now we should briefly talk about how his career began, and what successes he was able to achieve.
early years
Sergei Rebrov studied football in the Gorlovka Shakhtar. Then for some time he played in RBM (in Donetsk). And then he joined the legendary Shakhtar. In this Donetsk club, his youth career grew into a professional.
The debut took place in the 1990/91 season. During that season, he played 7 matches and scored 2 goals as part of the national championship. In 1992, in an incomplete year, he held 19 meetings and sent 10 goals into the opponents' goal.
Then Sergey Rebrova was invited to join Kiev Dynamo. There, in two years in the Premier League, he held 189 meetings, scoring 93 goals! And yet - 35 matches and 18 goals in the Cup of Ukraine. In addition, he participated in the Champions League. By the way, he owns the legendary goal from an acute angle into the goal of Barcelona.
Relocation to England
In the summer of 2000, Sergei Rebrov was invited to Tottenham Hotspur. He, of course, agreed. He was bought back for £ 11 million, and it all started well, but in March 2001, George Graham was fired.
The football player did not find a common language with the new coach. Therefore, he was leased to Fenerbahçe. There he spent two years, played 38 matches in the national championship and scored 4 goals.
The lease ended, and football player Sergei Rebrov, returning to England, moved to West Ham United. There for 1 season he had 27 meetings and only one goal. Unfortunately, a career in the Premier League did not work out. In 2007, he was included in the TOP 50 of the worst players who played in the championship. And in 2009, the Daily Mail edition put Sergey in 10th place in the ranking of the worst scorers in English clubs.
Return to Ukraine
In 2005, Rebrov was refused an extension of the contract. And so he returned to Ukraine. Two days later, Sergei Rebrov footballs there, signed a new contract with Dynamo. It was designed for 3 years. During this time, the striker played 53 matches in the championship and scored 20 goals.
Of course, he also played for the national team. In the period from 1992 to 2006, Sergey spent 75 matches, rolling 15 goals into the opponents ’goal.
In 2008, the scorer signed a contract with Rubin. At first he played under the attackers, and then he was completely transferred to the position of the left midfielder, which unexpectedly became convenient for Sergey. During the season, he played 31 matches and scored 5 goals. It should be noted that some of them were decisive.
In the summer of 2009, the football player was supposed to go to Kiev Arsenal. But his leadership with Rubin could not agree on the conditions. Therefore, on July 20, Sergey announced the end of his career. On the same day he was appointed assistant coach of the second part of Kiev Dynamo.

A couple of words should be said about the personal life of Sergei Rebrov. The legendary Ukrainian football player was twice married. His first wife was Lyudmila - the couple had a son, who today lives with his mother in London.
After the divorce, some time passed, and Rebrov married again. His second wife, a very young girl, is called Anna. Not so long ago, in 2016, they had a son.
It should be noted that Sergei has an interesting hobby - radio sports. Moreover, in this discipline he became the champion of the world and Europe in 2005 and 2003! His callsign in Ukraine is UT5UDX. And in Cyprus - 5B4AMM.
Of course, Sergei was repeatedly asked why he chose such a non-trivial hobby. To which the athlete replied: “Isn't it interesting to put on headphones and hear the voice of someone who is on the orbiting space station? Or, for example, at the North Pole? It is tempting, and also perfectly relieves stress. Better than a therapist. ”
In addition, in this way, football player Sergei Rebrov met many interesting people. In one interview, he told how once with the national team he flew to the USA, and at the airport he saw grandfather holding a sign with his call sign. It was one of the most memorable meetings with the once virtual interlocutor.
