Choosing the style of curtains for the kitchen window - the task, say, is not entirely simple. It would seem, what is the difficulty? After all, the kitchen is such a place where dense curtains are not needed, multilayer heavy draperies that darken and close the window. However, curtains play an important role in the overall decor of the room, it is their shape and color that becomes the finishing touch. Sophisticated textile compositions on the windows always look beautiful. Ruffles, swags, long flowing frills falling down the window give the room a sophisticated look even with the simplest furnishings. Is it worth it to make pelmets in the kitchen? Why not. The main thing is to choose a suitable shape and color, taking into account the style and specifics of this room. Lambrequin - universal decor. It can perfectly complement both the classic interior and the modern one, shining with gloss and metal. However, we note that it is not necessary to make lambrequins too complex and multi-layered in the kitchen. Still, this room is intended for cooking, and this process is associated with various fumes, soot, deposited on all surfaces with greasy deposits, requiring constant cleaning, therefore, curtains in the kitchen are washed more often. It is difficult to take care of draperies, to wash, and then to smooth folds - the whole problem. Therefore, let us choose simpler, but no less attractive models. The same applies to the choice of tissues. Curtains and lambrequins for the kitchen are sewn from materials that tolerate washing: dense cotton fabrics, polyester, silk.
Now we pick up the style. The kitchen lambrequins made in the form of a frill are simple, but very attractive, you can sew them yourself. Such a simple style is suitable for various interiors. A small flower, peas and a cage perfectly complement the classic or romantic style, and plain or striped fabrics in the color of
kitchen facades, decorated with contrasting light and elegant finishes, decorate the modern interior. Having come to the process creatively, combining several different fabrics, using braid and applique, you can sew light curtains and very beautiful lambrequins for the kitchen yourself (photo). Usually, the pelmet is cut out with a width of 1/6 of the height of the curtain, and its length in the finished form should be equal to the length of the cornice. Additionally, for fluffy assemblies, at least 1/3 of the length is added. The folds are collected using a curtain braid sewn from the back and pulled to the desired distance. On the window, the lambrequin is fixed firmly, it should not move together with the curtains. For this, a special curtain rod is selected, the front side of which is trimmed with velcro tape, on which it is convenient to fasten the assembled fabric. You can hang it on an additional bar or fix it directly on top of the cornice.
Lambrequins are suitable for the kitchen and flat. They also blend well with shutters, tulle and a
Roman curtain. For the manufacture of such a model, a pattern is necessarily used. From paper make a preliminary blank of a curly shape and the right size, strictly measured by the size of the cornice. Then the part is cut out from the main and
lining fabric, leaving allowances for hem on the top and bottom. In order for the flat lambrequin to keep its shape well, a dense adhesive base is laid between the fabric and the lining. A similar model is mounted only on the top of the cornice, completely closing it. This is done using Velcro adhesive tape, one part of which is attached to the cornice and the other to the lambrequin. Such a lambrequin can look strict and concise, and can be very romantic if you make it from fabric with a bright floral print.
