Among the many vegetables on the shelves of stores, you can often find celery; however, few know how to cook it. But it contains a huge amount of nutrients that the body needs. Celery not only helps to stimulate appetite, but also has many medicinal properties, for example, antiseptic effects, improved metabolism, and others.

Interestingly, almost all parts of the plant are consumed, starting from leaves and ending with seeds. In addition, people who care about their figure can diversify their menu with this product, without fear of gaining excess weight. Despite the fact that there are a huge number of dishes in which celery is one of the ingredients, how to cook, it still raises several questions.

Celery leaves, as well as root, are used as a seasoning for main dishes, its seeds are added to canned vegetables for aroma and spicy taste. But most often you can find on sale petioles of this plant. They are perfectly combined to taste with almost any vegetables, meat, seafood, fish. But often celery, both root and petiole, can be an independent full-fledged dish.

For example, you can cook fried celery. This recipe does not require many ingredients and the time taken to cook. The tuber of this vegetable is peeled and cut into strips or thin plates, folded into the dishes, sprinkled with lemon juice; a little soy sauce is added and left for a while. After that, each slice is taken, crumbled in flour and fried over medium heat in a pan until a golden crust is formed. Such a dish can be an excellent side dish for meat or fish, and can be used separately.

This vegetable is brewed quite simply. Before cooking celery, the root of the plant is peeled, cut into small cubes and thrown into boiling water. Speaking about how much to cook celery, it should be noted that the time can be different, depending on how finely chopped the vegetable is, or on its other qualities. But usually it does not take more than 20 minutes, approximately, like boiling potatoes. By the way, these two root crops can be cooked together and then mashed. The taste of this puree will turn out to be more saturated than that of ordinary potato, and there will be much more vitamins and nutrients in the dish. You can also bake these vegetables in the oven by slicing them into strips, seasoning them with chopped garlic and adding chopped onion rings.

Despite the fact that there are a large number of recipes where celery is stewed, cooked or fried, the best option would be to eat it raw, in the form of an additive to the salad. For example, the root vegetable rubs, mixes with chopped apple, and seasoned with mayonnaise. Celery leaf will go well with a regular vegetable salad consisting of cucumbers and tomatoes.

It should be noted that this vegetable is also used for cooking first courses. It can be added to the soup along with potatoes (or instead of it), or you can make mashed soup, which is based on celery. How to cook it is worth describing in more detail. For soup, five medium-sized stems are cut into cubes and stewed for a while in butter. Two boiled potatoes and carrots are also added here. Vegetables are crushed in a blender, 200 ml of cream of fat is poured, the soup is salted, pepper and put on fire until it boils. The resulting dish is well served with croutons fried in an egg.
