The feeling of comfort, inner balance and calmness in our hectic, volatile world is largely dependent on the environment. At the same time, especially at home, it is often determined by the overall interior design. A significant role will be played by the materials used in the decoration, including the flooring. In many cases, it is extremely important in creating a common atmosphere. Therefore, for use for such purposes, engineering board may be of particular interest.
First of all, those who use natural materials should pay attention to it. Although the engineering board was obtained artificially, natural components are mainly used for its manufacture, except for glue. In fact, these are glued layers of wood, they are perpendicular relative to each other. There is a two-layer and three-layer board.
In the latter case, each layer is made of hardwood; in the two-layer variant, plywood serves as the base. Valuable wood is used as the top surface. Its thickness allows for repeated processing (grinding). Being a finishing material, an engineering floor board, for example, can replace parquet, and due to its multi-layer characteristics it will significantly exceed it. This will manifest itself in a smaller value of deformation due to changes in humidity and temperature, as well as in the significant strength of the entire board and its outer layer.
With this use, an engineering parquet board allows a greater number of polishes of its surface and can serve a longer period. In addition, due to the dimensions of the parts, laying of such parquet will be performed with fewer joints. This combination of properties makes it possible to use this material not only in living rooms for flooring, but also in restaurants, cafes and other similar rooms.
It should be noted that the engineering board has a comb-groove system on the sides, which makes it easy to assemble an entire surface from individual elements. Drawing, texture of the finished flooring can be designed for noble wood species. Manufacturers produce a wide range of boards with various surfaces, such as almost all types of oak (white, Arctic, cognac and others), walnut, teak, etc.
Such a board can be laid on any floor, including concrete, the main thing is that it be even and dry. For alignment, you may have to perform an additional screed. Installation of the board can also be done on plywood. For all types of laying, glue is used for fastening, manufacturers in many cases recommend the use of two-component. Due to its characteristics, such a board is much better suited for laying on underfloor heating than ordinary parquet.
Despite the fact that the engineering board is a relatively new material, it managed to establish itself only positively. Having greater strength compared to a massive board, better resistance to moisture and temperature compared to parquet, it deserves special attention when choosing a coating in both commercial and residential premises.
