Base trim: subtleties of work

Under the concept of the socle is usually meant the lower zone of the facade, designed to protect it from pollution and damage. It should be made of durable materials, not only decorating the facade, but also able to serve as a reliable barrier to moisture. Usually the basement reaches the floor level of the first floors. Its height should not be lower than 20 centimeters so that it performs its functions correctly. The facing of the base can be made in one of many ways. You can consider some of them.

Base trim
First, preparatory work is required. The base from the foundation to the upper level should be flat and strong, not contaminated. Bumps that are larger than 5 millimeters should be removed. Before facing the socle, you should walk on the surface with a primer. This will reduce the water absorption of the base.

Facing the base with stone tiles

This type of finish looks impressive, but it is very expensive. Most often it is made of limestone or sandstone, however, you can also find options from granite and marble. The size of the tiles can be arbitrary, as well as their texture. Installation is quite simple. The tile is glued using a special adhesive for stone. Using a different type of glue sometimes leads to cracks and peeling of stone tiles. The basement lining must be protected by a cornice (if the first protrudes beyond the walls). Not that everything will crumble after frosts.

Porcelain stoneware cladding
Naturally, you can use other materials. The stone for facing the socle looks quite impressive. Outwardly, this solution resembles a structure made of natural stone, although work is being done using concrete. Artificial stone has excellent performance (due to the fact that its composition includes various mixtures and aggregates). Dyes added to the mass, you can get noteworthy options for colors and shades, which opens up a lot of opportunities for design. The plinth is lined with artificial stone in full accordance with the recommendations specified by the manufacturer. The material is glued to an elastic or ordinary adhesive solution. Seams should be filled with a special mixture. After the preparation of the base, it will be possible to protect it by means of special hydrophobizing agents capable of prolonging its life. The surface of such a plan looks very good for a very long time, while the cost of work is much lower than in the case of natural stone.

Basement cladding stone
Another attractive option is the lining of the base with granite. This material is very popular, which is easy enough to explain. Among the positive properties of porcelain tiles are the following:

- Attractive appearance, provided by a variety of shade options for tiles;

- heat resistance;

- resistance to all kinds of external influences;

- high strength.

It is worth saying that the lining of the basement is a rather important procedure that allows you to protect the structure from negative environmental factors.
