Bowl "Genoa" - Turkish floor toilet intended for bathrooms. This indispensable attribute is most often used in public places, at construction sites, train stations, clinics and hospitals, military units, dormitories, schools, industrial premises and stadiums. βGenoaβ is a bowl that involves squatting when used. Such a toilet bowl with a flange is installed in railway trains, ships and ships.
Advantages and disadvantages
βGenoaβ is a bowl with a number of advantages:
- simplicity and reliability of the design in operation, allowing the public bathroom to work in conditions of constant vandalism;
- durability and resistance to various mechanical damages;
- hygiene - visitors to the toilet do not need to touch the toilet;
- simplicity in leaving;
- relatively low cost.
The main disadvantage of the Genoa bowl is the need to squat, which requires some coordination and balancing.
Materials for the manufacture of floor toilets
The following materials are most often used for the production of the Genoa bowl: ceramics, porcelain, cast iron, stainless steel. In order to improve aesthetic properties, the bowl is covered with enamel. For the functioning of such a toilet, it is necessary to purchase all necessary components and connect to the water supply and sewage system. Consider the features of bowls made of various materials:
- Ceramic "Genoa" - a bowl that is durable, easy to care for and inexpensive. It has a pretty attractive appearance. Its only drawback is that it is not always able to withstand a strong impact and can crack under pressure.
- Bowl "Genoa" cast iron - more expensive, but it is reliable and resistant to corrosion. Such a toilet is able to regularly serve for many decades.
- Enamelled steel bowl is an ideal option combining reasonable price and good quality. However, it is most susceptible to corrosion. In choosing a steel toilet, the thickness of the metal must be taken into account. The bigger it is, the better.
Bowl "Genoa": installation
Installing the bowl can be done in two ways. The first method is to use taffeta. Another is in mounting the toilet directly on the tile. Despite the fact that the Genoa floor bowl has unique specifics, its fasteners practically do not differ from the usual fastening of the toilet bowl.
Installing a toilet using taffeta
In the case of taffeta, it is necessary to take a beam or a board made of moisture-resistant wood of a suitable size. Drive several nails from its back, which should protrude from the board with a point a few centimeters. Then pour concrete under the toilet and drown the board in it. After the structure hardens, the toilet is screwed to the resulting taffeta through the mounting holes.
Installing a toilet on a tile
The technique for installing the Genoa bowl on the tile is slightly different. First of all, it is necessary to markup and, so to speak, "fitting" the toilet. This is done by installing it at the intended place and connecting the outlet to the socket of the sewer pipe using an adapter sleeve or rubber ring. You need to be careful: the toilet outlet should be located above the level of the pipe opening.
Next, it should be noted on the tile those places where the mounting holes will be located. Move the toilet to the side so that it does not interfere. Drill the marked holes into which dowels will later clog. Now you can put the Genoa bowl in place and attach it to the bypass pipe. Thoroughly seal all joints with silicone sealant. Attach the toilet bowl using cuffs. The last stage of work is the installation of flush valves, the installation of which is carried out according to the attached instructions from the manufacturer.
Siphon for the bowl "Genoa"
The drain siphon is an important plumbing unit, the purpose of which is not only to drain drains, but also to prevent unpleasant odors from the sewer pipe. It is a curved pipe, which, when draining, holds a small part of the water at a certain level, thus forming a water lock, the so-called water lock. The siphon is usually made with a vertical entrance and a direct or inclined exit. If this design does not function for a long time, then the water in it may partially or completely evaporate.
Types of siphons
Depending on the design, the siphons can be of three types, each of which is adapted to certain installation conditions. Consider them:
- Horizontal siphons - are installed in places where access for installation of a vertical analog is limited.
- Slanting siphons at 45 degrees are an indispensable option if the Genoa (bowl) is mounted close to the wall.
- Vertical siphons - are installed where there is free space and good access to it.
Subtleties of mounting the system
If an independent installation of a siphon with plumbing is carried out, then the first thing to do is to carry out preparatory work for laying a sewer pipe, on which to further install a toilet siphon. Then, on the prepared and verified pedestal, the toilet itself should be installed, while combining the drain hole with the mortise hole of the siphon. For connection, an adapter rubber is used. As a rule, the system is assembled tightly, but if necessary, after assembling from above, the connection can be filled with sealant.
