By maturity, it belongs to the early. Tomato Marmande will give ready-to-eat fruits 3 months after planting (85-100 days).

Also, this variety is unpretentious in weather conditions and soil quality, it can be grown without much effort throughout Russia, from the southernmost regions to the northern regions. Such tomatoes well tolerate planting in open ground, although they can be grown in greenhouses.

Tomatoes of the Marmande variety are not standard. The height of the bushes can vary from 1 to 1.5 meters.

Fruit

Tomato Marmande, whose reviews are almost always positive, gives large flattened fruits with an unusual ribbed relief. Such tomatoes are painted in a rich red color.

Their pulp is characterized by high density and a small number of seeds. Thanks to these qualities, vegetables are perfect both for raw consumption and for various types of processing, for example, canning or making tomato juice.

This variety is well tolerated and can be stored for a long time. In addition, experts note that it bears fruit very well and provides a rich harvest.

Growing Features

Tomato Marmande, the description of which was presented above, is very easy to care for and undemanding to the quality of the soil. Even on the smallest soils, it will yield a stable crop. But in order to increase the number of harvested fruits, it is necessary to work hard and provide the plant with comfortable living conditions:

1. This variety prefers light and fertile soils, very fond of warmth and sunlight.
2. Growing tomatoes begins with sowing seeds. The best time to carry out these works is considered the beginning of March (from 1 to 10 day of the month).
3. For germinating seedlings, it is best to use a small container measuring 10 by 10 centimeters. As soil, a special soil mixture for tomatoes is well suited, because it is already adapted to the characteristics of this crop.
4. Then, for 55-60 days, seedlings should be regularly watered using the sprinkling method.

Once the seedlings have grown, it can be planted in open ground, taking into account the individual characteristics of the plant:

1. Typically, Marmande tomato is transferred to the garden from May 15 to May 31. Experienced summer residents also use a little trick with success: if you plant seedlings in early May and cover with foil before warm weather, you can get the crop a few weeks earlier.
2. The distance between individual plants averages 50 centimeters, and between rows - 40 centimeters. It should be borne in mind that on one square meter you can arrange from 7 to 9 shrubs.
3. It is not recommended to plant Marmande tomato in those areas where peppers, potatoes or eggplants previously grew.
4. The best option would be a sunny area protected from the winds.
5. Before planting, it is recommended to dig the earth with a small amount of humus or rotted manure.

Further care for the tomatoes is very simple. They must be regularly watered and protected from frost. This variety also responds well to the application of organic fertilizers. With a favorable outcome, tomato Marmande will bear fruit for 1.5-2 months.

Advantages and disadvantages

Very often in many garden plots you can see tomato Marmande. Reviews about this variety note only one significant drawback - if the plant is "overfed", the shrubs grow very much, and caring for them is complicated.

The advantages of such tomatoes are much greater:

• the fruits are very tasty and attractive in appearance;
• due to their good transportability and long shelf life, they are suitable for commercial use;
• the first crop can be obtained as soon as possible;
