The staircase is the premises of an apartment building, which is used by a person to move from the street to the apartment. The staircase is considered common property and the decision on the necessary changes in it is taken collectively.
Russian entrances are completely different in their architecture. For example, in the old houses of the Stalin era there are wide stairwells with a vintage design, and in the "Khrushchev" you can find a cramped staircase with high steps.
Device
The entrance of the house must meet all the functional requirements of the residents. It should be convenient and practical.
It begins with the front door. In the modern version, this is a door with a self-closing device and an intercom (sometimes with video connection). After the front door, the vestibule begins and the second door (often an ordinary wooden one). This helps keep the heat indoors.
On the ground floor, technical and utility rooms are often located, the entrance to the basement. In the area of ââ1-2 floors are mailboxes.
The floor is called the landing, and the staircase between the floors is called the flight of stairs. It is framed by a railing (usually wooden). Each floor should be well lit and have its own working electrical panel.

On the top floor there is access to the attic and technical rooms. Houses above 5 floors have an elevator and a garbage chute.

Order
The porch is a public place. It must be kept clean by all its inhabitants. Basic rules for maintaining order:
- install rubbish bins;
- to put a rug in the entrance hall;
- do not smoke or drink alcohol;
- protect it from pests;
- observe the regime of dry and wet cleaning.
Most often, the staircase is registered with a management company that deals with regular cleaning of the premises and garbage collection.
The neatness of the entrance depends on the residents themselves. Educated people who love cleanliness make them really comfortable:
- put pots and planters with plants;
- decorate the walls with paintings;
- draw pictures on the walls and doors;
- put benches and high chairs;
- hang curtains.
Such premises take part in competitions for the best entrance of the city.
Repairs
Overhaul or partial repair is the responsibility of the management company. This includes not only the transformation of the interior. The UK is also responsible for the repair of the elevator, front door and porch.
According to the rules and norms of the technical operation of the housing stock, the entrance repair should be carried out every 3-5 years. Replacement of lighting fixtures, mailboxes or railings is carried out at the request of residents.
If the management company does not plan to repair in the near future, tenants draw up a collective application and submit it to the director of this company.
In addition to the fact that the porch must be well maintained, it must be safe. To do this, residents are not allowed to clutter the stairwells with furniture, trash and building materials.
