The drug is able to restore the acid-base balance of the blood, therefore, it is often prescribed as an effective tool in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting, and with heat stroke, and as a preventive measure during intense physical exertion (in order to prevent dehydration of the body).
