Rules of the road for children

Many parents begin to show the kids letters and numbers from the cradle, trying to teach them how to read and count as early as possible. And sometimes it is overlooked that, along with teaching various sciences, it is very important to familiarize the little ones with safety rules in time, among which the leading place is occupied by traffic rules for children.

Unfortunately, in car accidents, children are often killed or injured. In many cases, this is due to improper behavior of drivers, but sometimes children themselves provoke emergency situations due to ignorance or non-compliance with the rules of conduct on the roadway. And therefore, parents should do everything in their power to ensure that the childโ€™s road rules are learned by their child as early as possible. Because from ignorance of how to behave on the road in a given situation, the most irreparable can happen ...

Traffic rules - learn from the cradle
The ideal option is to start learning the rules of the road for children from an early age, as if in between. To begin with, it is enough from time to time to draw the attention of the baby to traffic signals and be sure to comment on the situation, saying something like โ€œsee, the red light is on, you canโ€™t cross the roadโ€, โ€œthe green light up - you can cross.โ€ At regulated intersections and crossings, one can often see adults rushing to cross the road at a red light. It may not be clear to the kid why he cannot, and someone can, therefore, in such situations, it is necessary to explain to the crumb that the uncle or aunt violate the rules and act incorrectly (only when this does not need to shout all over the street). Regardless of whether the transition is regulated or not, it is necessary to teach the child to carefully look around, still commenting on their actions.

However, the rules of the road for children are not only the knowledge of what light the roadway can go to. As soon as the baby begins to walk and run confidently, he needs to be accustomed to the idea that you can go out on the road only with an adult. Moreover, there should not be any democracy, because the safety of the child is at stake. Having played, children often run away to a sufficient distance from their parents and at the same time sometimes jump out onto the road. Most often these are small passages between houses, on which cars rarely travel, but even on the most non-living roadway of a child there may be danger. And do not rely on the fact that the driver will slow down in time, reduce speed during a turn or miss a child - unfortunately, not all people follow the rules of the road (especially on such shallow roads). Therefore, the child must be accustomed to the idea that he and only he is responsible for his own safety. You also need to tell children about the rules of the road in the context of travel by public transport. Indeed, many accidents happen just because of a standing bus or trolleybus under the wheels of an overtaking car people fly out ...

The power of personal example
In order to learn the road rules for children it was more fun and interesting, you can use various educational books, games, shows and cartoons. Recognizable and beloved heroes will tell the children how to behave in various situations and, importantly, show what the consequences of non-compliance with a rule can lead to. After all, sooner or later, the child will begin to move around the city on his own, and it is very important that he understands why he should not follow his friends at the red traffic light and why he needs to go the extra 200 m to the pedestrian crossing, and not jump out onto the road where he convenient. But parents should remember that numerous manuals that clearly explain the rules of the road for children are a huge help for safety lessons, but a personal example has the greatest value for the baby. If you regularly tell the children about the rules of the road and at the same time pull on a red light across the road, "because there are no cars, but we are in a hurry," then such training will not be too much use.
