Siding (exterior) is a modern non-combustible material for facing the facade of a building, which is designed to protect walls from external influences: rain, wind, snow, sun. In addition, it performs an aesthetic (decorative) function, improves the exterior of the house, gives it a modern look, without requiring large financial costs and special labor.
Siding for outdoor work
This is a wonderful material for exterior wall decoration, easy to install and handle, and does not require special tools. At the moment, there are several types of siding - wood, vinyl, wood, metal (steel, aluminum, copper) and cement for the basement. This material is not susceptible to decay and corrosion, since in the manufacture of it is treated with special compounds that form a protective film.
Siding (outdoor) has many advantages:
- it is quite durable (with proper installation, it can last up to 50 years);
- resistant to moderate mechanical stress;
- refers to environmentally friendly and practically non-combustible material;
- allows the walls of the house to breathe;
- tends not to absorb odors, not to attract dirt and dust;
- easy to clean with a garden hose and high water pressure.
To facilitate installation, siding panels have special snap locks.
Wood siding
It is made from wood fibers, which are pressed under strong pressure and high temperature, with the addition of special resins. The material is coated with paint or varnish in several layers, which reliably protect from the negative effects of the external environment. Externally, the panels look like a real tree. The service life of modern wood siding is more than 15 years.
Wood siding
In appearance it resembles a wooden lining and differs in the type of wood processing and the cross section of finished products. It is made from a wood-cellulose mixture, which is pressed under the influence of high pressure and temperature. In manufacturing, special additives are added to the mixture to improve performance. The panels are 5.5 m long, 11.5 cm wide, and 9 mm thick. Wooden siding is attached to the wall using screws through the finished holes located in the upper part of the panels. They are fastened together by the “groove-comb” type. It has a variety of colors (28 colors), several types of surface structure.
Vinyl siding
It is used for finishing absolutely any facades. In appearance it looks like the most ordinary board, but it will not lose its external attractiveness even after 20 years, even despite sharp seasonal temperature drops, heavy rain showers and crackling frosts. This material requires minimal maintenance (it is well washed from a hose, dirt practically does not stick to it). These PVC panels are made of polyvinyl chloride.
Steel siding
Steel siding (exterior), as a rule, is used for finishing industrial buildings, warehouses, workshops, etc. In order to protect the metal from weathering, it is coated with a special anti-corrosion agent. Steel siding is available in different colors (6-8 colors), but with powder coating the color range is unlimited.
Its main disadvantage is a rather large weight, due to which the building's load on the foundation increases. In addition, the steel surface is not restored after accidental damage. The cost of such siding is high. The panels have a width of 12-55 cm.
Cement siding
Cement siding (outdoor) is made by pressing cellulose fiber with cement. Its main advantage is that it does not burn, due to which it is used for decorating at facilities where there is a high probability of fire and there are increased fire requirements. This is a moisture resistant and durable material that can withstand the effects of the sun, frost, rain, wind. The disadvantages include high cost, high weight, due to which a powerful mounting crate is required. In addition, its processing is quite complicated and inconvenient, and painting is done by the consumer. The top of the panels is only primed and has a dull gray color. In this regard, after installation, they must be painted.
Cement siding is rarely used for cladding. Exterior decoration of the house with siding is used for both new and restoration of old walls. This material is widely used for facade cladding, insulation and protection of walls from external influences. If necessary, mineral wool or any other heat-insulating material can be inserted between the siding and the wall. Exterior siding - the work is not very difficult.
