Peony tulips: luxury in your flowerbed

Perhaps no flower garden in the world can do without tulips. Without them, spring holidays are unimaginable. They decorate gardens when other flowers do not even think to blossom. Most gardeners love exotic, fringed and peony tulips, which are better known as terry. The original look and bright colors attract attention from afar, while in the cut flowers stand for a long time, and in the flowerbed are perfectly combined with many other flowers.

Description

Peony tulips come in early and late varieties. The early ones are good for blooming, but they are not too high, why they are used mainly on alpine hills, in the design of borders and in compositions with other plants in landscape design. The late peony tulips are much more interesting. They have very large, ten centimeters in diameter, flowers with round wide petals. The name tulips received due to the similarity of flowers to peonies. Late terry varieties bloom 10-12 days after the early ones and bloom much longer - often until early June. These pion-shaped tulips are higher - their height is half a meter. Their stems are powerful, due to which they stand longer in the cut. Some of the varieties did not even lose a delicate aroma during selection. Among them are Alegretto, Monsella, Angelique and Cream Upstar.

Use in garden design

Due to the interesting shape of the flower, which is possessed by pion-shaped tulips (photo), usually in plantings they are brought to the fore, both in mixborders and flower beds. Very effectively they frame the tracks. An interesting design decision is to plant late peony tulips in a freestanding flowerpot, where they will be available for viewing.

All varieties go well with low anemone and crocuses, which bloom at the same time as tulips. To frame the flower beds and cover the soil between the main colors, saxifrage, arabis, muscari and viola will be harmonious. For juiciness, you can add hazel grouse, daffodils, forget-me-nots, primrose, daisies and pansies to the mixed flower garden.

What to choose from

Terry tulips can boast a long history: the first of them was described in the mid-17th century. However, not one old variety has survived to the present. Today, peony tulips are popular, varieties of which were bred in the last century: Carnaval de Nice, Uncle Tom, Maywonder, Angelique, Wirosa, Mount Tacoma, Lilac Perfection, Renown Unique, Monsella, Miranda, Upstar. Today there are new, very interesting varieties. I would especially like to draw the attention of gardeners to such varieties:

  1. Double Beauty of Apeldoorn. It is also called Sun Lover, which translates as โ€œbeloved by the sunโ€ because of the catchy yellow-orange color with bright scarlet touches. Height - half a meter, petals - and this variety is different from others - close the center.
  2. Orange Angelique. A pale pink flower, derived from the familiar and beloved gardeners of the Angelique variety.
  3. Touch, which has two varieties: Dream Touch, a very large, rich burgundy, with a silver border of the petals, and White Touch - snow-white, with a light green at the base.
  4. Gudoshnik Double. In its coloring, orange, yellow and red are combined with equal intensity and with equal intensity.
  5. Blue diamond Almost blue flower; most accurately, the color can be described as purple-purple. Blooms full three weeks.

One can list for a long time modern late peony tulips. In conclusion, we note the main thing: among them, everyone will find something personal, which he will never give up again.
