Mount Shunut is the most picturesque peak, the highest point of Konovalovskiy Uval, which stretches across the Sverdlovsk region. Due to its beauty, length, and rare flora, Mount Shunut in the Sverdlovsk Region is one of the most visited places among tourists, representatives of various scientific expeditions.
How did the name of the mountain
There is no single answer, where does Mount Shunut come from. According to one version, the etymology of its name is from the Turkic word "shun", which means sled. Another version is inclined to believe that the name of the mountain arose from the merger of the Mansi word "shun", or creature, and the Bashkir "ut" - fire. In ancient times, the peak was used as a watchtower, in the event of an enemy invasion, a fire was kindled on it, warning people of nearby settlements about the danger. The second name of the peak is Shunut-stone. A number of travelers also have her other name - White Stone. This name arose most likely due to the light color of the rocks of the massif.
Description of the natural monument
The highest mountain in the vicinity of Yekaterinburg rises to 726 meters above sea level. The length of the peak is 15 meters, which is covered with dark coniferous and broad-leaved forests. Many rare plants grow in these places, such as a venus slipper, European undergrowth, locust and many others.
On the top of the massif are outlier rocks. Mount Shunut in an airplane photo resembles an ancient fortress due to the original arrangement of steep cliffs, which consist of quartzite-sandstone slates, pebbles. According to scientists, the age of the ridge is more than 600 million years. In some places, the rocks are covered with multi-colored lichen.
Place of pilgrimage for believers
Thanks to the healing properties of the radon spring, Mount Shunut and the holy spring of Platonida have become a favorite route for pilgrims.
The name of the source is fanned by various legends that connect its origin with the estate of a local girl that retired to these places for a lonely chaste residence, either because of a failed love story, or because of the unwillingness to marry the parents of the parents, or according to the internal I call to convert to Orthodoxy. What reason prompted the girl to live in these places is not known for certain, anyway, after her death, the source was named after her. Near the source is the grave of St. Platonida.
The source itself, thanks to the saturation of gas with radon, helps to cure many ailments: gout, digestive diseases, blood circulation and others. The water here is very cold even in the hottest weather. Pilgrims also collect healing water with them, it is believed that it does not deteriorate for a long time and is able to maintain its beneficial properties.

Several picturesque rocks are near Shunuta. Among them, the Old Man-stone, visually resembling the profile of a man, Grandfather-stone, the Revda River flows here. Rocks surrounded by taiga, gorges, springs - all this creates an attractive picture for lovers of outdoor recreation. The Serga River flows in the mountains, along which the Deer Streams Park is located.
Mount Shunut, in turn, provides an overview of the Bardym Range, Falcon Stone, Azov Mountain. At the very top there are many glades suitable for organizing tourist camps. In the vicinity you can get firewood for the fire. Mountain springs have potable water. In the summer, they often dry out, so you need to take care of the water in advance.

In these picturesque places were filming episodes of the film "Golden Woman", the plot of which relates to the events of the XVIII century. Currently, Mount Shunut, its surroundings belong to the category of natural, landscape monuments. In this regard, places are subject to enhanced protection of the Sverdlovsk region.
How to get there
There are regular bus services to the city of Revda, and can also be reached by train. In the city itself, regular buses depart from the railway or bus station three times a day to the village of Krasnoyarsk. From the village to the mountain 10 kilometers, the direction on the spot can be checked with local residents. In order not to get lost in the forest, the mountain road is marked along its entire length with signal ribbons.
