In our country, a huge number of summer residents grow tomatoes. A standard planting tomato allows you to harvest one centner from 30-50 bushes. However, there is technology that makes it possible to get such a quantity of tomatoes from just two bushes. This method of growing was called "tomato tree". In order to grow it, it is enough to follow a few simple rules.
Initially grown tomato seedlings in a standard way. For planting, it is best to choose the strongest plants.
The tomato tree can be grown from tall varieties of tomatoes.
There is even a specially bred variety for this purpose called Octopus f1.
Growing technology
In order to grow a tomato tree, you need to pick up an old barrel. So that excess water can be freely removed, and earthworms can easily penetrate inside, the bottom of the barrel must be removed.
For better oxygen access to the root system, holes are drilled in the sides at a distance of about twenty
centimeters apart.
The prepared barrel is placed on the sunniest spot in the garden. Then it is filled with soil in a certain way. A layer of Urgasy about 10 centimeters thick is laid down. Urgas is a microbiological fertilizer and consists of vegetable waste, organic raw materials processed by microorganisms, with the addition of minerals and wood ash. As the next layer, a soil mixture is used, consisting in equal proportions of compost, turf and garden earth. The height of the two layers should be no more than one third of the height of our barrel.
In early May, we plant the selected tomato seedling in the center of the barrel. Before the end of night frosts, the future tomato tree should definitely be covered with cellophane.
As soon as the seedling has taken root, we proceed to the development of a strong root system. To do this, we cut off all the leaves at a height of ten centimeters. We wait when the wounds dry out a little, then we fall asleep with a layer of soil mixture. When the tomato tree grows another ten centimeters, repeat the procedure. Thus, we act until the barrel is completely filled with soil. This will happen in about a month and a half.
From now on, the tomato tree can not be covered. It is also important to stop stepsoning during this period. On the contrary, you should strive to ensure that the plant has as many brushes as possible. The lower branches can easily hang from the barrel, while the upper ones should be tied so that the plant receives as much light as possible.
It is important to provide the plant with plentiful watering. You should not be afraid
overdo it, because excess moisture will go into the soil through the missing bottom.
Once a week, the plant must be fed. To do this, fill one part of the compost with two parts of water, stir, insist for a day. With such a mixture and water our tomato tree.
Since the beginning of autumn frosts, a film can be thrown over the tree, then it can well stand until the end of September.
To achieve the best plant yield, it is important to know how to care for them and how to plant. Tomatoes require careful care. Growing them using the tomato tree method allows you to get a larger crop with fewer bushes, which means less effort is required. As a result, you will have plenty of time to relax on warm summer days.
