Gazania (or gatsaniya-flower) is a representative of the Asteraceae family. In total there are more than 50 different species. The mixes are very beautiful: Easy Groe, Auslis, Daybreak, Sonenshine, Sunshine Mix, Mini Star, Carnival, Monarch Mix, Chansonet, Talent. These flowers are becoming more popular every year due to their unpretentiousness and beauty. The homeland of gatzania is Africa. There gatsaniya grows in arid places where humidity is high only at night. The second name of this unusual flower is African chamomile.
African camomile
In our latitudes, African chamomile is an annual, as it can not survive the harsh winter. And in its homeland, gatsaniya is a perennial flower.
It is a grassy undersized plant that has a shortened stem or its complete absence. Depending on the
species, gatsaniya-flower can have a color range from silver to dark green. On the wrong side, the leaves have pubescence, due to which the amount of evaporation on a hot day is reduced. Their shape in gazany is extremely diverse: palmate-dissected, elongated-lanceolate, cirrus or linear. The leaves are collected in the outlet. African chamomile has a rooted root system, which allows the plant to extract water from great depths.
Gatsaniya flowers
Gatsaniya flowers are quite large: grow up to 10 cm in diameter - and are represented by a wide variety of colors. Regardless of the species, each inflorescence at the base has a dark spot that gives the plant a special appeal.
Gazania itself is represented by a basket, where tubular flowers are located in the center. It is they who exude the aroma during flowering, and false-speaking are located on the edge (they are sterile).
Gatzania flowers are beautiful - a photo on which you can see their true sizes, displays their beauty. The plant has many small seeds (up to 250 pieces in 1 g.) With a parachute. Seeds remain viable for 2 years. With the onset of night or in cloudy weather, the gatsaniya-flower closes. In the rainy summer, enjoying its fragrance is quite problematic, but do not despair, since the plant blooms from the beginning of summer to the snow.
Growing
In cultivation, these flowers are very unpretentious and look great on a flowerbed, in balcony drawers or flowerpots. For their landing, it is better to choose a sunny place without stagnation of water. These flowers need to be fed 1-2 times a month, using universal fertilizers. It is better to grow gazania through seedlings. To do this, sow seeds in March to a depth of 5 mm, the first seedlings will appear already on the 5-7th day. Seedlings are transplanted to a permanent place at the end of May, always with a small lump of land.
Breeding
Gazania propagated by cuttings. To do this, they are cut in the summer from the side shoots and, treated with a growth stimulant, are planted in the ground, at first shading and watering as needed. With stagnation of water, these flowers are sick with gray rot. In this case, it is necessary to ensure the flow of water and treat the flower with a fungicide. They are almost never affected by pests.
