Now, quilling technique has gained great popularity among hand-made fans. This is the creation of both pictures and volumetric compositions from twisted strips of paper. In stores you can buy whole sets of already prepared strips of different thicknesses and colors, tools for work and a line with templates. Thanks to these additional materials, the details are beautiful and of the same size.
In the article, we will give detailed instructions on how to make several quilling dog crafts. These are flat pictures and voluminous toys that can be given to children or put on a shelf for beauty.
The simplest picture
In order to make a dog using quilling technique, you need to purchase the following materials:
- Quilling stripes in white, beige, red and brown.
- Crochet hook.
- Template line.
- Glue PVA thick consistency.
- Glue brush.
- Tweezers.
The work is carried out on two levels. First make the head, ears, torso, tail and hind legs. Then on the second level are the eyes and nose on the muzzle, the collar on the chest and the front legs.
Quilling a dogβs head is simple, as it is a tightly twisted circle. To make it large, it is necessary after one strip ends, glue the next one on its edge with PVA glue. When the required value is reached, the edge is glued to the last turn. Then the end part of the circle is smeared and gently pressed by the hand is glued to a thick sheet of cardboard.
The body is made of several colors, and the winding of the quilling of the dog occurs freely. The body of the dog is composed of brown and beige ovals. You can give the resulting shapes any shape by crushing the edges with two fingers.
The tail is also made of two stripes. First, a small brown brown circle is curled. Then around it is made larger of beige paper. It remains only to assemble one into the other and give it a pressing shape with sharp corners.
By the same principle, the remaining parts are made that are glued to the first layer.
Simple volumetric dog
Even a schoolchild in primary school can make such a dog figure from quilling. You will need strips of yellow and orange for the body, white and black for the muzzle. You can buy separately plastic eyes for toys, or you can make them from black stripes.
Start work with the torso and head. Twist will have to be tight and long, so be patient. To the body took the shape of a ball, you need to twist the stripes in a spiral, with a slight shift. At first part of the figure goes to increase, and then the volume decreases. The head is glued to the body with PVA glue.
The remaining parts of the quilling dog can be screwed onto the cylinder and then pressed down in the middle with two fingers. You will get ovals with a void in the middle. So that the parts stick well and do not fall off during the childβs play, it is better to use an adhesive gun.
Welsh Corgi
This is a more complex artwork of a quilling dog. You can perform such work either using the sample in the photo below, or by being able to draw well. You need to take a picture according to the drawn contours, it is advisable to even mark with colored pencils the places where you want to stick individual details.
Start work with a round dense nose of black color. Then all parts of the composition are represented only by the same details in the form of a leaf. They are assembled from quilling strips of different colors on one template. Glued together with PVA glue.
Dwarf pincher
This work has even greater complexity, since all the details of the picture have a different shape and size. They also do it according to a previously drawn sketch, using different templates. In the manufacture of the dog from quilling, large and expressive plastic eyes were used with ready-made eyelashes that give the look a natural look. The mustache is made from the edges of a white strip cut with scissors.
In the work on this dog from quilling, several colors and shades are used to give volume to the picture. They make it strictly according to the drawn contours, arranging the individual parts both in a semicircle and elongated stripes.
Funny poodles
These are voluminous dogs from quilling. The main difficulty of the work is to fasten finished, tightly twisted parts. The best option for gluing these elements is to use an adhesive gun. To fasten together circles of strips for the body, it will be enough to apply a thick PVA. The paws and neck are made by pushing the sticks into the center of a tightly twisted circle. You can use a pencil or a thick knitting needle.
The nose is made of black material by simple twisting and fastened to the blunt narrow end of the pointed muzzle of the animal.
Decorative elements
On conical parts depicting the faces of animals, you can glue plastic eyes. But the main decorative elements are fluffy pompons. They are made separately, also from quilling strips, only wide. The edges on one side of the strip need to be thinly cut into "noodles", and the thinner the more beautiful the elements will look.
Glue circles twisted from wide, notched strips to the ends of the legs, tail, sides of the front and back. They are placed on the head along the top of the head. Two pieces on the sides. It will be the ears of a poodle. Two large pompons are glued on top.
Depending on the location of the paws, you can give a different position to the dog: standing or sitting. Toys are tight, they can be played.
As you can see, making flat dog figures and voluminous toys is not so difficult. But this work requires perseverance and accuracy. It is important that the quilling elements are clearly twisted and of the same size.
