It is also worth noting the fact that connecting to an external water supply network is the most reliable way to get water in the house. Drilling one’s own well is far from always possible. How to get admission?

The water main is an important object, therefore, if you do something wrong, you can leave the entire street without water. Before starting work on connecting a private house to the central water supply, you need to get permission. To do this, just contact the local branch of the water utility. In this case, you do not need to indicate which connection option you plan to use - with or without welding. But if in doubt, then asking experienced locksmiths for advice will not hurt.

If you made an unauthorized connection (without the permission of a water utility), then this is illegal. Sooner or later you will be punished with an impressive fine.

A copy of the site plan must be obtained at the Federal Center, which registers home ownership. As for the technical conditions for connecting to the water supply system, they are formulated directly by the water utility. Be sure to include such data in the technical conditions:

1. The place where the insert is made.
2. The dimensions of the pipe, which is made main water supply.
3. All other data necessary for the implementation of the insert.

This document can be made in any design organization, even from private traders. But it must be approved in the local branch of the water utility. Without this, the frame cannot be legalized.

1. Completely get rid of pressure in the line, drain all the water that is in it.
2. Make a hole in the side wall of the pipe. This can be done with any tool available.
3. Put a branch pipe for the outlet, be sure to make a valve or crane on it.
4. Mount the connection node from the valve to the water supply of the house.
5. Check all joints for leaks.
6. Fill the line with water. In this case, it is necessary to dump all air jams. Only after this, the pressure in the system rises to the minimum necessary value.

This method of connection consumes a huge amount of energy and time, so it is rarely used in practice.

Practical way to connect

To date, a less costly method of connecting a central water supply to water has been developed. Moreover, all work can be done without pressure relief in the line. Water is under pressure. Before starting a tie-in, you need to install a saddle clamp of a special design (popularly called a "saddle") on the pipe. This is an ordinary split sleeve that must be tightened with screws. A rubber gasket is used to seal the joint.

A pipe section or flange is placed on the coupling half. It is necessary to insert a drill. Pay attention to the fact that the rubber seal must be done if work is carried out on a plastic pipe. To drill a hole in a pipe made of steel or cast iron, it is necessary to use a saddle made of plastic material, which is applied to the inner surface of the coupling.

Often you can find on sale the so-called universal saddles made of strips of metal. They are somewhat similar to ordinary coupling clamps that are used in cars and irrigation systems. But to crash into a pipe made of plastic, you need to use a tool with heating elements. This avoids the use of cutting.

Saddle mounting

Fastening of this input element can be done only in one way - tighten with screws. Please note that all screws must be tightened in turn so that there is no skew. The coupling halves should converge as evenly as possible. As for steel pipes, they need to be carefully prepared. The entire surface should be treated with sandpaper and a metal brush.

When drilling in a cast iron pipe under pressure, it is recommended to avoid axial forces so that the wall does not break. Do not forget that cast iron is a very fragile material.

The easiest way to embed

And now let's talk directly about what methods of insertion into the central highway exist. And first, consider the simplest method, which boils down to putting a locking element before drilling the pipe wall. To do this, you can use the ball valve mounted on the saddle. Open it and put a drill through the hole.

Of course, in this case, the ejection of water from the highway cannot be avoided. To protect the tool, put a piece of plastic bottle on it. As soon as you make a hole in the main pipe, you need to quickly remove the drill and completely close the ball valve. When tapping into a steel pipe, it is enough to weld an elbow to it, at the end of which a thread is cut. A crane is screwed on it, the remaining actions are the same as described above.

Milling cutters

This tool has a core drill that makes a hole, as well as a safety valve. It is necessary in order to restrain the pressure of water. The tool rotates by hand, but you can find professional samples that work from an electric drill. At the end of the nozzle, a locking device is placed, by means of which the tool is inserted inside. Such equipment is most often used when tapping into plastic lines. After drilling is complete, water flow is possible, but it will be negligible. Thanks to the valve, it is possible to stop the water pressure.

Drill collars

Often use drill collars when tapping into the trunk. Such a tool is sold in stores with kits that have rotary connectors and various nozzles. There are several variations in the performance of products; they can be used when connected to pipes of 80 mm and above. Please note that before drilling, it is necessary to roll the pipe as deep as possible so that the drill does not slip.

Stages of implementation

You can understand that even when connected to a central water supply system for two houses, you need to perform such manipulations:

1. Install a clamp with which an insert is made into the central highway.
2. Mount the locking device.
3. Drill a hole in the pipe.
4. Connect the in-house water pipe to the sidebar.

As for the additional connections, it is not necessary to coordinate them with the water utility, all work is carried out independently.

How to determine the insertion point

As a rule, in settlements there are wells for connecting to the central water supply. You need to adhere to only one rule - the pipe going to the household or to the site should be below the depth of freezing of the soil (which is about 1.2-1.5 m). If you live in a harsh climate, it is recommended to increase the depth by 50-60 cm in order to equip sand drainage and foam insulation. Immediately after the insert, you need to make a drain valve. And before digging a trench, make sure that there are no intersections with other systems - sewers, communication wires, gas pipelines.

Selection of materials

When connected to a central water supply, pipes of various materials can be used. This is cast iron, and steel, and plastic. If you wish, you can put pipes that have protective coatings. If the choice fell on a cast-iron pipe, then consider all its properties, including negative ones. After all, this material is fragile, and pipes can break very easily. Cast iron pipes should have spherical graphite, since it is more ductile. But still, when working, you should not make significant efforts.

You should also take into account the fact that the pipe used for tapping should have a diameter smaller than that of the main pipe. It is recommended to use pipes from 50 mm. If the insert is made into the trunk of plastic, then you need to use tools with built-in heaters. This will allow you to quickly make the right hole in the pipe. If the line pressure is less than 1.6 MPa, then you need to use special saddle clamps, which can create uniform pressure in the area with which they are in contact. This will avoid deformation of the pipe.
