The building was erected on the basis of an unfinished house for the Vyborg cooperative partnership. Workers of the Vyborg side also participated in its construction. The structure was created in the then constructivist style.

Palace History

The Vyborgsky Palace of Culture became one of the first cultural and educational institutions of the Soviet period in the city. It was opened on November 7, 1927, and was not yet a “palace”, but a “home”. That year was celebrated the tenth anniversary of the October Revolution. So the new House of Culture in the working area can be regarded as a holiday gift to the residents of Leningrad. He was transferred to the department of the trade union organization of the region.

In 1937 he was transferred to the union of the military-metal industry, which was not the last change.

The new House of Culture had a modern cinema hall at that time. Here one could attend an interesting performance, listen to music performed by amazing musicians, attend fascinating lectures. The high level of art groups of the Palace of Culture attracted talented young people. And the city’s first amateur club was opened right there. Later it will become famous throughout the country.

In the late 1950s, the "house" was renamed the "palace". During the war, its employees did not leave besieged Leningrad. Throughout the blockade, the Vyborg Palace of Culture continued to work for Leningraders.

Since 1978, the Palace of Culture was renamed the Palace of Culture and Technology, and twenty years later, simply the Palace of Culture.

Our days

The area of ​​the land plot owned by DK is 4758 sq. M. meters. Most of it is occupied by an open cultural space - the Vyborg Garden.

In 2005, the process of reconstruction of the palace building was launched. It was supposed not only to build it up, but also to adapt the adjacent residential buildings for a hotel and a business center, as well as to complete an additional residential building of 25 floors with built-in rooms, consisting of four sections. It was assumed that the land area occupied by the house will be 2460 square meters. meters.

The pre-design work was carried out by Pyramid LLC, and all activities according to the plan were to be completed by 2011.

The hall of the Vyborgsky Palace of Culture accommodates two thousand spectators. Today, numerous pop stars and classical musical art present their works in it, the famous theaters of Russia and Europe demonstrate performances, and entreprise performances are also brought.
