Construction of a house from aerated concrete: insulation of external walls.

Many people, especially residents of large cities, megalopolises and both capitals, are very pleased to buy suburban areas for themselves and build small or, conversely, quite large, low-rise cottages there. The idea itself, of course, is great, but at the preparatory stage there are a lot of very different, albeit pleasant, but worries and difficulties, including in terms of choosing the material for the walls. And in this regard it seems very promising construction of a house from aerated concrete .

Indeed, gas silicate (aerated concrete) blocks have a large number of serious advantages in comparison with other materials. They perfectly retain heat in the room, have high noise insulation characteristics, are easy to install, dimensional accuracy allows you to get almost completely smooth ideal surfaces, and so on, it will be difficult to count everything even for a professional.

But there is one very serious point, which, with a certain negligence of the performers, especially when building a house on their own, can lead to a very cold house. The fact is that sellers, and some not quite responsible manufacturers, believed that their "brainchild" is so unique that it does not even require insulation, it is enough just to plaster the walls.

For the southern regions of the country, this statement can and has no justification in connection with very rare low temperatures, but for the northern regions and the middle zone of our vast country, such experiments are fraught with serious problems, up to the loss of housing for the period of frosts. For this reason, it is worth using insulation for external walls. At the same time, a decrease in vapor permeability must come from the outer layer to the inner one. In this case, two problems will be solved:

  1. Moisture leaves the room outside, but not vice versa. When it rains, the humidity in the street is higher than indoors.
  2. Steam does not remain in the cavities of the blocks. As you know, it is moisture that is the main enemy of gas silicate structures, and heaters in this regard are an additional protection of the walls.

In conclusion, it is worth noting that the choice of insulation, and especially its installation, must be carried out by specialists. Otherwise, the walls of the cottage will soon begin to collapse, become covered with cracks, and the rooms will become cold and uncomfortable. Be careful and careful, and you will always run home, as they say, with all your legs.
