The main character of the comedy performed by the unforgettable Leonid Kuravlev was so liked by the Yaroslavl people that they decided to perpetuate the memory of him. Athos, representing the embodiment of cunning, enterprise and irony, “settled” in the city in 2009. The sculpture depicts the main character, lively conversation with the drinking buddy Kolya, reproduces exactly one of the funniest episodes of the comedy. Of course, it is set opposite the famous Afonya Brewery, located on Nakhimson Street.
Other monuments of Yaroslavl are not as popular with tourists as this one. Restoration work was required a year after the installation of the sculpture, as all visitors to the city want to be photographed in an embrace with her.
