Talk about what degradation of nature has been going on for many decades. However, only in the 70s of the last century they began to approach the analysis of this problem from a rational point of view. During this period, in almost all developed countries, special structures began to be created, which were charged with dealing with the problems of nature conservation. It was at this point that environmental degradation reached a point where it became impossible to ignore negative phenomena. It should be noted that in previous years, local environmental disasters occurred in various countries and in different territories.

Of course, this problem has been known to mankind for a long time. If you ask what degradation is in a concrete sense, the answers will be different. Already in ancient civilizations, farmers were faced with the problem of soil depletion. With unsystematic farming for several years, the fields reduced their productivity to critical levels. People had no choice but to move to another place and start all over again. This method of survival, otherwise you cannot even call it, has been used for a long historical period. However, with the growth of the population, suitable for cultivation land was not enough.
According to British scientists, in 1750 the population of the globe totaled only 500 million people. In 2002, there were more than 6 billion people. By the thirteenth year, this figure exceeded the bar of 7 billion. Such an explosive increase fundamentally changes the quality of the habitat. Every person who comes into the world to a certain degree experiences
what degradation of living space is. Today in many densely populated regions of Europe, Asia and Africa there is an acute problem in providing the population with drinking water. Meanwhile, the rivers are drying up due to the fact that there is an intensive
deforestation.According to calculations carried out using mathematical modeling, the forest cover on the planet decreased by almost 50% compared with the figure that was five thousand years ago. Today, forests are being intensively cut down. As a result of this, there is a rapid degradation of the animal world. Animals disappear at a catastrophic rate. It is necessary to add to this phenomenon that the volume of waste from human activity is also increasing rapidly. Figuratively speaking, our planet is gradually turning into a large dump. All these problems cannot but disturb the progressive part of humanity, and certain measures are already being taken.
Currently, when many are already well aware of what degradation of nature is, various programs are being developed to improve the current situation.
A special structure has been
created at the
UN that carries out multifaceted work in this direction. Various expert councils and commissions have been created that evaluate newly created projects and work with existing enterprises. The famous environmental organization Greenpeace conducts observations and examinations in all problem regions. There is every reason to believe that humanity will find a way out of this situation.
