Viticulture is not the most common way of leisure for our gardeners. But in recent years, everything has changed. The climate is getting warmer, it is possible to grow excellent crops even in the Urals. Why not take advantage of such attractive graces of nature?
Why cuttings?
The most common in our conditions is the planting of grape cuttings in the fall. Why didn’t other methods have spread? Let's take a closer look.
The fact is that from seedlings much more often normal seedlings are obtained. In addition, the practical undertakings of our winegrowers have shown that a bush planted in the form of a shank begins to bear fruit much earlier. There is evidence that a decent harvest can be obtained already in the second year.
So planting grape cuttings in autumn is our choice!
Training
First, you need to select a separate plot for the vineyard. As such, you can designate any bed, which is located at a distance from the trees and is located in a sunny place. Pay attention to groundwater: if they are located less than two meters below the surface of the soil, then such a site is completely unsuitable. The rows need to be oriented from north to south.
So, how is grape cuttings planted in the fall?
Let's get started!
Time for disembarkation must be selected before stable frosts.
The easiest method is to fit into the pits. To do this, dig a hole with a depth and width of 80 cm. Digging it, you need to sort the soil into three heaps: a layer of surface fertile, middle and lower sections. We add all three types of land separately.
The first batch (fertile) is mixed with three buckets of humus and 500 g of mineral fertilizers, additionally adding a couple of kilograms of wood ash. Thoroughly mix this earth until it turns into a homogeneous mass.
Landing
Note that the upper edge of the mixture filled into the hole should be located half a meter from its edge. After reconciliation, a landing peg is driven into the recess and grapes are planted with cuttings in the ground. The root system should be smoothed out as carefully as possible, manually pouring it with the soil mixture. The hole is shed with a pair of buckets of water.
The second layer of earth is mixed with fine gravel or sand, and then supplemented with the mixture obtained landing recess.
In principle, the story could be completed on this, but planting grape cuttings in autumn has some peculiarities.
In particular, you must not forget to carry out the hilling. In this case, 20-30 cm of earth is added to the seedling, and for this purpose it is optimal to use soil from the third pile. It should be remembered that there must be fertile soil on top of the handle (about 2-3 cm).
If you do everything right, then planting grapes in the fall with cuttings will be rewarded with the fast-growing vegetation and fruiting. In addition, such plants better adapt to cold climates and practically do not freeze in subsequent years.
These shrubs also bear fruit longer and better, providing enough raw materials for all the homework.
